Why don't you simply go to a plastics supplier. Have some 1/4 inch thick clear perspex cut to size and holes drilled for circulation .... it seems to work for Davidoff. Your cigar boxes will be cedar-ply lined, so no worries all round.

is this for racks/trays that you are talking about?

can anyone tell me best place to get empty boxes going to make a cabinet humi on the cheap and could do with empty boxes to help it on its way

I know of a supplier of Spanish Cedar here in the UK that can cut to your required sizes in Spanish Cedar Wood, at a reasonable price! I was looking on the web and found no one and did not want to import from the USA. A very helpful chap here on the forums mentioned a company called Exotic Hardwoods.
