Boveda to bring my RH down

I honestly think you would be better with Boveda packs in there, they suck and blow so unless they are full to the limit of their capacity they should help suck some moisture out. It's a new humi, you will get it sorted. Mine has gone from 69 solid to 71, in ok with that change but like you, I wouldn't want it to be higher. Got any dry Boveda?

I have no Boveda... I'm going to have to put an order in, just making sure with you knowledgable folk that I get it right.

That's why I went with the silica Tom, won't brand new packs be at capacity? Where's the Boveda rep when we need him?

Yeah I know it shouldn't be a HUGE issue being that high for a while but I'm a perfectionist!

Im using a salt test calibrated Xikar hygrometer which I used in my desktop and it always sat at 69%, no matter what the outside RH was. I was also using the Cigar Oasis Ultra electric humidifier jobby in that Humi but it's not really suitable for the new cabinet type I have now.

I have moved the hygrometer into different locations inside the Humi over a few days and It's a consistant 73/74% everywhere.

Like I said, I now have no humidification in there at all so what ever I do use need to be 2 way. Whats the deal with Heartfelt?

Surely if its that bad why not pop it in the airing cupboard overnight before putting in new charged Bovedas?

Yes it is a new Humidor. Although I bought it second hand, the humidifiers that came with it were still sealed in plastic bags in there little boxes, so I don't believe it was used properly before. The analogue jobby on the front (although I wouldn't ultimately trust it), has been tracking there or there abouts with the digital reading so I don't necessarily think the batt is on its way out. I'm not completely ruling it out, I just don't think it where my issue is.

I primed the Humi by leaving a small ramakin half filled with distilled water in the bottom for a day or so. I then replace that with the humidification units (Acro polymer crystals) and let it rest again. After 24 hours it was 69% so in went my sticks. The first couple of days after that it was holding a lovely 69/70% but it creeped up over a couple more days and is now sat high.

I might try the rice idea tonight to see if that brings it down a little. Although at the moment the humidity in there is a bit high, not having any humidification devices in there at all feels odd!

All I can think is that if I get the RH down using rice/Silica kitty litter etc, I then stick a few Boveda's in and hope they take control after...

I did that too. Didn't go mad with it as it already had a nice seal.

I imagine there's a few of us in this boat at the minute! I might get my sticks out and spread them about the lounge and enjoy a walk in humidor smell for a while!

No issue here hearfelt beads all the way and never a problem. Once had the humidity too high just popped the bag in a radiator for a hour then back in the humi and brought it back to normal
