  • Help Needed - 2008 Edicion Limitada

I have a plan to buy a 10 box of EL's from the birth years of my kids (2008 & 2014), with a view to leaving them alone until their 9th birthday and smoking 1 a year on their birthday with the last to be smoked on their 18th.

    So, 2 questions:

Would it be better to do this with an EL (which just seems more "special"), or should I just buy a decent box from the relevant year?

If the EL is the route to go, can anyone help me out finding a 2008 box?

As far as I can tell, the EL's in 2008 were (in order of my personal preference):

    Partagas Serie D No 5
    Montecristo Sublimes
    Cuaba Piramides

I can appreciate that my options with regards to the 2008 box may be limited, so I'd be willing to go abroad if somebody could PM me the details?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I personally would go the none LE route. I would go for a nice 25 box of a large smoke instead something to smoke and note the changes year after year instead. Going to cost you about the same and will get a better smoke in my opinion.

Very good question! Very nice and sentimental, too. I hope to go down your path soon!

Personally, I would just go with the regular productions that seem very good. Something cheap and full like a fifty cab of Por Larranga Petit Coronas so they last a long time - and down the lines at 5-50 years, they'll be absolutely brilliant smokes! As a good Yank friend of mine continues to say: Friends don't let other friends smoke LEs! But I do enjoy them once in a while- good change of pace and what not.

The Sublime is a good smoke if you can shell out the cash. I find it past the prime, but who cares what I think.
Cuaba Piramide is a divided line. But i can almost say with objective criticism that it is like Cuaba on steroids - just full out blast of Cuaba.
The D No.5 short robusto is something that I haven't tried. Don't feel like trying. They're somewhat rare and almost never talked about. Just leave it at that.

2008s are a tad more common in the aged sections. I may know a place with a TEB box code of Bolivar Corona Gigantes which are smoking FANTASTIC right now. TEB was 2008s code for Partagas so they're a higher chance of high quality and stability. Other than that, 2008 Diplomaticos 2s are floating around with mild difficulty to source

Now. If you REALLY want to go full out after you win the lottery, try sourcing a box of the 2008 Cohiba Sublimes Extra Book edition. I've yet to try one so let me know how it smokes

As for the 2014s, just wait. See how they smoke. Try them all first.
Or just get the H. Upmann Reserva No. 2. Those are an absolutely fantastic smoke!!

That's not fair Mo. I hear rohipnol is ever so cheap over there.

How about shortlisting the potential options, smoking one of each and then going from there?

Really!?! At which year did you find this out, as mine (after four boxes and smoking them since 08) are still a pretty awesome smoke..

just my opinion... i find the grand edmundo still packs a punch that the Sublime should've had.

last time i had a sublime was actually 10 months ago. still have my part box sitting here and very hesitant to smoke it

you should also think about the month they were born in, if it falls in the warmer months a longer smoke could be an option a sir winni could be great and by the time you are on the last 20 or so should be magnificent if in colder months you might want to think about a shorter smoke (unless you can smoke in doors on there birthday)

Hmm, I specifically want a 10 box, any suggestions?

Cohiba, RyJ or Bolivar would be my preference.
