  • A little experiment

So about six months ago I was dragged along to a bootsale by the wife when on holiday in Cornwall

I was greeted with a seller selling a box of Montecristo no4 sealed from 1986
So I offered him 5 pounds which he took

When I got them home they had clearly never seen a humidor and were very dry and some in a bit of a state
I quickly put them in the freezer and quickly discarded the box ( wish I keep it now)
And for the last six months I have been slowly bringing them up to 65
Well two day I decided to Have a puff on one
And I must say the nicest smokes no4 I have had I a long time

The appearance does let it down tho

Great ask, a nice even burn... that wrapper does look horrific though!

A great story and find, thanks for sharing

Holy moly, that's some revival! Why freezer though? Any beetles would likely have hatched over the years.

That looks like a "freddy krugger" cigar. Nice price tho

                      Pea Brain.

i could be wrong but from viewing the pic of the bands they look younger than 1986 i'm thinking 2003 or younger.

I think you may be right, but still, you can't complain for a fiver!

Great little bargain! Shame you didn't keep the box because that would've told you the year, presuming it was the original box

I love this little story. Good job and it just goes to show that even badly treated cigars can smoke well if revived.

I would agree, which beggars the question what were 2003 banded cigars doing in a 98 'sealed' box?
not that it matters I 'spose if they were just a fiver and smoke well.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!
