I have no issues with downloads either Marc, I spend fuck loads on media in its different forms, if I want to download something I think its ok. I pay for spotify (though yes it is available for free in a limited way) I go to the flicks twice a month, have XL TiVo and I buy movies from iTunes too. All that cost me about ?80 per month so I do my bit. My old man had a record company once upon a time so I understand this subject. The result is that I do believe that artists intellectual property should make them wealthy but not stupidly so. In short I don't see the harm in a bit of downloading if its done with the right intentions. The type of downloader I don't line are the takers or leechers, the ones who don't intend to ever buy anything and worse still don't seed for others.

Why do the fuzz still use tapes? Is it supposed to be a chain of evidence thing?

                One other thing:
Please tell me why people deserve money over the dead bodies of Elvis, Keith Moon, Frank Sinatra and over the split groups of the Beatles, Floyd, King Crimson, etc?
The nonperforming barely see a fraction of all the money made from the sale of their music let alone the ones who are already dead.

This goes beyond music. What about books? What about for Hemmingway? Did his estate deserve money just because someone wants to make a short movie about some old man catching a Marlin?

If you want to make me pay for some music, fine. But at least make most of the money go towards the bands. I'm okay with the old ways of showing people music. But when record labels like Warner and Gomma come out and make MORE than the artists, of course people will steal the music.
Just look at Germany. With the bloody control they have there, my mates are literally still switching CDs and Mix Tapes of modern songs!

just a bureaucratic nightmare to end contracts with certain companies when you're a publicly funded organisation.
this is why everything is so slow. in my line of part-time work, the municipal government gets conned out of millions of dollars due to lobbying companies and crooked screeners.

but on top of this, i think tapes would be better in the long run. it'd be controlled easily because making duplicates can be tracked better than digital copies. someone can't just break into a police vault and leave with 200 000 recordings if they use tapes. but i can do that if they had digital copies.
personally, i'd rather have my information on tapes than on media formats...

well, then you have two issues: time and misrepresentation

Because if someone fucks with the tape the cut can be detected easily. I could never understand why they moved from Polaroid to digital evidence cameras though. A Polaroid is almost tamper proof once its taken.
