But I think they only do that because that's what incompetent buyers, and I'm sorry to say it, usually from North America look for and prefer. The reasoning being I'm guess is that if it's sealed it can't have been tampered with. What might be inside .... mould, beetles, plugs, tears or otherwise is unimportant.
Interesting about the sealed boxes thing, I've a lot to learn. Although I've never fallen for any foney cigars from dodgy sites to date. Perhaps I should stick to my known methods in future. Having said that I'm in another box split already however we chose the vendor together and have 100% confidence in them.

As for purchasing "sealed boxes", that's probably the worst thing you can do in this hobby. Rob Ayala told it again recently at FoH, and he simply refuses to ship sealed boxes. Only malicious or incompetent vendors accept to do so.
That's what i've mostly noted.
But the assumption goes on that vendors would replace boxes like that.
Just like almost every vendor in the states for NCs.
And what I would've assumed with this retailer until recently. Mind you, they've yet to be talked about much when buyers come up, and now it's obvious why. Publicly and privately.
In fact, that's a main reason why many cigars bought from the states come sealed when shipped.

They don't have the same inconstancy that's why people don't ask vendors to open and check.
The vendor you used has been talked about loads and is a known fake peddler for over a decade that's why you have not seen recent discussion as everyone knows. Tommy mentioned the guys name that runs it and a dozen members knew who the retailer was and none were surprised he sold fakes. So plenty of discussion went on about them.
After coming rather late to this thread I have to say I'm very impressed. I'd usually agree that 'dirty washing' is private, however this thread proves that gentlemen are very much in the majority around these parts. Lessons learnt and all that but interms of personal integrity on the vendors has been shown to be missing.
I knew you were both victims from the start, haven't run across one bad guy on this forum who would try to pass off fakes to a BOTL. What really pisses me off is the vendor, how can he do that to people? Sell them expensive fakes that have an even worse vendor to make rare editions and pass them off as legit. How can he let people have fake cigars in their humidors thinking they're the real article, ofcourse the only way to tell is having a seasoned palate and a trained eye but that is irrelevant.

Hmmm, guess you weren't around during the 2009 London Puro Walk, when don TJ's poser (lil' stevie) passed out a bunch of Punch Rare Coro Double Coronas. Our old pal, se?or CIV can testify to how bad hey were, it he ever bothers to post.

That is because a US BOTL buying in the USA will be covered by the US version of our Consumer Credit Act. To assume the same applies when buying away from home and when buying something they aren't legally supposed to possess is like assuming Bill Sykes gave refunds.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!
