  • Trying again.

Hello all.Been away for a bit though i have been looking in from time to time.Ive been smoking pipes and small cigars for a couple of years.Been enjoying some packet cigars Henri Wintermans,Villiger, and a few cheroots and cigars brought back from Spain etc recently.Thought i would try a sampler and have just ordered "The cigar party box" from A E LLoyd and son.Ten cigars from Cuba and the Americas.I am really looking forward to the box arriving and hope that i have made a good choice for some late summer smokes .I dont have a humidor and was wondering if a Kilner jar of suitable size would do for starters?.

Welcome again! I have never used a Kilner for cigars but it should work.

Well the box arrived Saturday morning which is pretty good as i ordered late on Thursday.Nicely packed with a free cutter and matches. There were nine cigars not ten as in the picture. When i checked there were nine in the list so i assume one has been taken out due to price rises though the old pic is still up.Not a problem to me though, i am happy with what came and the condition of the products.

I will probably smoke one or perhaps two a week purely for the enjoyment and relaxation. The first one i tried was a Chinchalero Torpeditos 5 in 38 rg.I was able to try my new cigar cutter and was impressed.I had always used a sharp knife before!.The cigar lit and burned evenly,a little harsh to start but lovely through the middle and i am sure that i could taste vanilla.I discarded the last inch and a half i guess.I did enjoy the Chinchalero and now realise that its the vanilla taste that i liked before.I see that this is a pretty low cost cigar so ive got off to a good start.Lasted about 20 minutes.

I plan to keep notes for my own interest and will save the name rings. The experience was very relaxing.I have a small "Tupperdore" from before so will use that for my stash.....

I used to use a Kilner Jar with a DryMista humidifier tube in it when I first got into cigars, worked well for me for several months, just make sure you regularly pop the lid to change the air

Erinmore is nice, is it the mix or the flake. I've enjoyed the flake and find it a very nice smoke!
Cobs are great, check out GQ tobaccos he has some great cobs on offer.
