So is temp not important at all?
I thought you had to keep it stable in order to get a stable rh?
The problem with our house is that there is nowhere that is cool at all that is safe from the kids.
No idea what to do now.
And time's running out, as I'm expecting some imminent arrivals and don't really have the space.

Nope. Lost it to ground floor bedroom/wetroom conversion for my daughter.
We have a shed, but that's no use cos the garden is south facing and it's like an oven in there!
The possible locations are limited - and none of the available locations are any cooler than anywhere else in the house - hence my quandary.

Temp isn't that important, you definitely don't need to worry. As long as you have enough tupperdor or humidor space for the new purchases you're good to go pal. The reason I want to make a custom unit with temp control is that I am somewhat of an obsessive, probably why I had substance issues as a younger man. The point is that temp isn't a necessity and definitely nothing to panic about but if you want to build the best of the best then a climate control system is good. For me I feel that it may be useful for a few special bottles too.
Space for six bottles on the bottom, space for boxes (lots) in the middle and space for trays of singles on the top (again lots of trays). If I'm going to the trouble of building that I'll definitely get temp control in the form of a thermoelectric fridge unit. As for humidity I guess an electric/automatic unit would be best but I'm so used to Boveda's now that I can't imagine anything working as well as they do.

I have found that the temp is a degree or two cooler them my main humid due to the insulation but I really wouldn't worry. In the UK the temp is only going. To be higher than the preferred range for a few days a year. No need to worry about what you can't control/change. I did used to move my humid down to my cellar in the summer & it was a little cooler there but when I got the cave it just wasn't possible & I think people would agree, cigars I have swapped/ passed on have just been fine. What I would recommend is to avoid leaving humid in direct sunlight. The temp will then swing dramatically.

Time being against me, it might just end up being another lock and lock....
