  • 50th Cigar

Since starting out I've purchased 59 cigars for a grand total of ?289.26 and smoked 49 of them. I've tried many cheap cigars of late and spent on average ?4.90 per cigar (Some were only cigarillos but no hair splitting). Out of the 10 I have remaining in my humidor, I don't have anything particularly exciting, and to celebrate my 50th cigar it seems like it deserves to be something good! Why not right?

The question is: what should I buy that's a bit special? I've picked up some ideas from the forum, but what do you think?

My list so far (most expensive to cheapest)

    Cohiba Siglo VI
    Cohiba Behike 52
    Montecristo No. 2
    Bolivar Belicosos Finos

I'm a relative newbie but have tried the BHK 52 and it brought a massive smile to my face. I know nothing of the other cigars you list, but the BHK 52 is definitely a special occasion cigar and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Monte 2 was my cigar of the year over the BHK 54 I smoked on the same day. But the BBF is lovely too!

I can't report back on the Siglo until the 31st..... I would probably try and find a Monte 2 with a couple years on it.

I have had more plugged ems sticks than from anywhere else. EMS means nothing might have a long time ago but not now.

that's not true! people always try to charge more for that little white sticker.

but seriously... how long ago, would you say? i was really hoping to get a MC 2 EMS (as i've only had one good MC 2 in my life) on my trip over... but perhaps i should just save it for something else

People might try to charge more as they paid more for it as EMS is only for sale in UK with high prices. The little white sticker you mean is that not the H&F sticker that is not the EMS sticker which changes colour every year?

Any other areas outside the UK that H&F supply get that white sticker and it is not said to be ems

... should be? last offered to me was a decently oily box of Montecristo 520s for upwards of $350...

had the H&F sticker too... will revisit to see what colour it was.
but aye. those two ladies always gives boxes with the H&F but no EMS

I'd avoid an unaged VI and go with one of the others. Don't want to put yourself off the great siggy VI.

Siglo VI imho is the best in that list. I've had a year old one that tasted great.

I'm hoping your right as I'm fast running out of old ones. Got a couple of cabs which I'm ageing now but there will be a time in the next year when I'll have to either buy some aged ones (unlikely) or start smoking them with only a year on them. I'm determined not to run out of aged VI's in the future though, if I keep buying enough to have a rolling stock it should be easy to leave them to sleep. I've also bought both cabs from different shops so I guess that may make a difference in the smokes. Anyone know which factory codes are good for them?
