ERdM Lonsdales apparently have a record of being plugged as logs.

Didn't have anywhere near enough of them when they were still readily available, but thankfully managed to get away with it for the most part - only had a couple of plugged ones; such a shame as, to me, they're glorious when on song.

Long and thin is easier to manage. Easier to light and not much chance of uneven burn, but the downside I'm told is thin sticks don't develop complex flavours. (Is that something to do with there being fewer leaves rolled in them?) Anyway I envisaged fat sticks pouring smoke into your mouth but alas that hasn't been my experience but I haven't tried many. Truthfully I get bored with anything that lasts longer than 45 minutes, so smallish coronas do me fine for the most part and it's only on rare occasions that I want something everlasting and slightly epic.

                  Robusto size is my fav.
But if its a quality smoke and I have the time, then size isnt an issue.

I'm not sure who told you that slim sticks dont develop complex flavours..... My experience strongly suggests exactly the opposite.

                      guys! guys! you're both right!!

Marc. why you think skinnies develop complex flavours is probably because all the skinnies you've had WITH complex flavours are aged. also, you treat them better due to liklihood of overburning them
my overly thick Triunfos today was pretty damn complex for such a think ring gauge. berry gud my frand.

Eh, so they do or don't in your opinion?

And I'm guessing that I think skinnies develop complex flavours is because I have experienced the complex flavours in them..... Which is evidence that they have them.....

Petit Corona's and Robusto's dominate my humidor. I really should branch out to be honest.

                            erg. my explanation was horrid.

allow me to try again. the most complex sticks are ones that have more age on them. Habanos has only recently started investing in giant cigars. therefore, new cigars won't be as complex. however, that isn't to say they won't be complex in a few years. take a PL Montecarlos and age it with a standard Economy robusto. they should (all things aside) be complex 7 years down the line.
If all my assumptions about your smokes are correct, you just haven't had enough thich old cigars to find them complex compared to the skinnes.

With the lack of variety in complex smokes available now (and only now), i am inclined to agree that the majority of 'complex' cigars are skinny. 5 or 10 years down the line, maybe it'll change.

we could go into describing complex. but how i define it is with these adjectives:
                            Changed pace
                            Pedantic
                            Bouquet-y
                            Evolving

My serious answer is that I like a cigar that is between 5-7 inches and 48-56 RG. If time allows I find that these larger Canonazo type cigars as they have enough length to develop through the smoke and I can enjoy one cigar with a nice drink for 2+ hours. As time oft doesn't allow for the long blissful smoke of a VI etc I tend towards a Robusto or Short Piramides however since joining this forum my tastes have been challenged and I have found that the Corona Extra is a nice size too. In truth I love many cigar types and particularly enjoy change so my smoking is dictated by time and mood.
