Im approaching 53 and maybe fitter than some half my age , never been a smoker untill this year , but im always on the go, since becoming a friend of the leaf i have found that at the end of the day evrything stops and for an hour i enjoy a cigar , unwind , ponder ,relax . Im certain that this ritual must reduce blood pressure also reduce the cholestol the body makes when racing around and for a moment you feel more at peace with your lot [ it is only cigars i'm smoking]. So with that in mind i shall order another box , any recomendations ?

You'll get no argument from me. I've been smokin' fine Habana puros since 1933 and I've been around for 93 years and still going strong...just ask me birds!
After all, I'm TJ, TJCoro, Damn It! And a puro a day keeps the stress away.
and they keep my ball up, too!sigpicVaya con Dios, Amigos! - don TJ and the Coros

Undoubtedly they're bad for you. Yes you don't inhale but some still goes down. The main problem is mouth cancer I believe.
However. Having said that, for anyone with high blood pressure, tension, stress etc, it's a great release. I know it is for me, and my liver has already been over-worked at 30 years old...
In my mind that outweighs the negatives. But I doubt I'll be saying that if I ever did get anything!

I've never relied on cigars to relieve stress.
I used to get very stressed through over-work - mostly in my mid to late 30s - but decided life was too short to waste on nonsense in the workplace and so adopted a more realistic approach that allowed me to say NO when I meant it, and to do far more enjoyable things in my private time.
Cigars form part of that relaxation vibe.
I would really miss them if overnight they were spirited away in a George Orwell Newspeak purge.
I was annoyed today when a mate told me that Paul McCartney has apparently given up smoking and has asked for all cigarettes to be erased from the Abbey Road cover,,, for starters...
Why do people do this? This is bollocks.
I've seen some black and white photos of the Beatles on a train in the early days when the boys were smoking phat ones.
I have to say cigar photos can be so cool.
I'm burbling. I've been marking.
I've had a superb Bolivar.
Life is swell.

The way I look at it is I'm smoking a few cigars a week instead of 10 to 15 fags a day, and as such would no longer consider myself a nicotine addict. Not taking the smoke into my lungs any more has improved my breathing and energy levels, and I don't stink of smoke all the time. Smoking is now a treat, not a necessity to get me through the day.
I'm not under any misapprehension that smoking cigars is safe, but you can't mitigate all risk. On the scale of things that are going to do me damage, cigars aren't too high on my list.
Back to the point in question though, my recommendation is: don't buy a box of something you haven't tried unless you have pots of cash.
What have you particularly enjoyed? Want something similar or different?

I used to smoke anything up to 10 cigarettes as day, since I stopped and went onto cigars I now I smoke anything up to 3 a week depending on circumstances. In the scale of things it has to better in some ways
Daves spot on with "not smoking so much is obviously better, the smell and most of all it's now a treat to look forward to rather than just to get you through the day"
Will I live any longer now? who knows. If I do I'll probably be poor as I'll have spent all my pension on cigars.Free the UKCF one
