  • Act your age man!

I thought this might be an interesting topic, when three of us were about to go out herfing after work on friday a woman in our office thought she would give me her words of wisdom on what a man of my age should be doing, and it didnt involve cigars!

It would seem if at 27yrs old Im not out clubbing on a friday night Im breaking some kind of unwritten rule...

so anyway, what is all this anti havana crap? anyone else come across this?

had a R&J short Churchill today btw and it was fucking awesome

A get a lot of frowns. And anyway, clubbing is for the teens. I certainly couldn't be assed at your age. Nor can I now.

Now when are we off to Cuba?

Nah cheaper together, can get a tad discount. I'm up for Feb, as a lot of others are on here due to the festival, but I definitely need to get away in July/early Aug before my 30th....

hahah at 22 some people think im a bit of a poser and an idiot smoking cigars
but people that are close to me forgive my eccentricities

but things like cigar smoking, i think clash with modern english culture and just peoples temperament.
its so much more european, taking time to smoke, appreciating something subtle. i wonder if its more accepted on the continent?

Agree with you about the clubbing Deano, got sick of it a few years a go...I'm 26 and the last last time i went I felt like the old guy surrounded by a bunch of kids. Prefer a meal and a few drinks now.

Strangly though, I only seem to get odd looks and negative comments from older folk (40+)

Clubing is for kids and at 27 if U don't have it out of your system I feel sorry for U. Just my $ .02 worth.

Depends what you mean by clubbing really. I've never liked the cheesy places that people just go to get drunk, pull and listen to chart shit. I still go what I'd call 'proper clubbing', where people are just there for the music. I'll keep going until I don't like it anymore.

Regarding acting your age; I certainly don't. I have the most puerile childish filthy sense of humour out of most people I know, and take great pleasure in the most surreal things.

I actually think I'm regressing. Life's too short not to be doing exactly what the hell I like.

Think you hit the nail on the head Dave, you are only here once, and you are not coming back, so make the best of it.

see to me its not about the clubbing, if that floats your boat go knock yourself out, its this idea you have to do something because someone else thinks its your age to do so....

As a recent member of the 27+ club (yesterday) I am delighted to find someone who faces the same kind of questions as me. If my idea of a birthday night out is a couple of Montecristos and a few Pints of Guinness in a Heated patio, then so be it.

Clubbing was never really my scene, and it certainly isn't now.

1st Post on this forum, Nice to meet you all.

I dont believe that and I didnt when I was a rabbit either!

Believe it or not, my clubbing days ended when I was 19. I'd already been raising hell for 4 years by then and almost partied my way into oblivion until I could take no more.
It all started when I was 14, when a group of us during the school summer holidays used to pedal our bikes to the next village were we could enjoy a lunchtime pint or two in the local inn with a game of darts or pool.
To this day I'm amazed how we got served and I can only put it down to landlord was a famous alcoholic who was always to pissed to realise or the fact we never caused any bother, we gave him business and it was too far out in country for anyone to care. it wasnt until I annouced my 18th birthday in the pub (by this time I was a well known regular) that the landlord said "but you've been drinking in 'ere for years"....." in that case your barred". My best mate who was the same age who I'd been drinking with all those years, by this time actually worked behind the bar!! He got sacked at the same time. Guilty by association. We didnt need it, this was the early to mid 80's and the first illegal raves in country fields were starting to pop up like flies and we wanted a piece of it.

We did some crazy shit that would make the jackass boys wince during that time. all completly drug free as well surprisingly given the screams of " Aciddddd!!" I didnt get a taste for that until my 20's but that's another story.
Now at the age of 38 I'm quite happy to have my cigar and slippers and hope my daughters dont get involved in half the stuff I did.
