IS HdM Epi 2 really a cigar for a special occasion like a birthday, especially if you have ?50 that you have to spend on cigars? I would get something you wouldn't normally be able to justify buying, or at least something that is slightly out of the ordinary; looking through CGars my choices would be one of the following:

                      Cohiba 1966 LE
                      PL Magnificos RE
                      Cohiba BHK56
                      RyJ Churchill Reserva

You could also get a Cuaba Diademas and Boli GM for around ?50

I'm desperate to get some of the Cohiba 1966s and am resisting the temptation as I can't really afford it (I might use it as a carrot to go for a job at work I wouldn't normally be interested in but where the extra cash would be incredibly useful with a baby on the way )

I would go that way too. 1966 is my cigar to try. Too expensive. Anyone wanna trade?

An intresting question with a fear a not so intresting answer. Just got back from a night on a campsite with bugger all signal so now going to make a nice strong coffee and look into some of your excellent suggestions.

A woman is an occasional pleasure but a cigar is always a smoke

Personally I would speak to cgars and ask them what vintage stuff they have for sale because most of the stuff mentioned is going to be on the young side and not show to potential. I know the Glasgow shop had siglo V and Party 898 from '99 well within budget (from memory ?27 and ?17 respectively) either that or one of the other members may be able to sort you out with something.
