How long can/should you keep a tubed cigar (

  • #2
Well in the absence of any other answers the lady I asked in a shop in Havana said 3-4 months. Be prepared to be bombarded with tales of tubed cigars being smoked after several decades .

Have tried a 1YO RyJ No. 2 after 1 year. Smoked regularly. Mind you, I don't live in the desert.
I feel like the time could vary from 1 week to 1 decade depending on where you live.

Agreed, and the tube type. Some have a better seal than others. Interestingly the ones that don't have a screw on end but slide together often give a better seal. You could also seal that sucker with some tape I guess. I don't really get the point of this though, surely anyone that can afford to buy a tubed cigar can also afford a tupperdor to keep it in? I guess the information is useful if you "find" a tubed cigar somewhere.

              Tubed cigars

What I've always wondered about tubes is whether the cigars should be taken out after storing them, or whether the caps should be taken off, that can't have been discussed before, can it?!

I don't buy many tubed cigars to be honest, although I do have a Monte Petit Tubos to try after the discussion recently over whether its the same as the Monte 4

Ok, well, how long can you keep a NON-tubed cigar without a humidor or anything and still have a good cigar?

I really am a complete novice and admittedly ignorant of everything smoking related

Bearing in mind the humidity in the average house is around 50% this time of year probably a week at the outside. The simple expediency of putting it in a sealed Tupperware box will save it a lot longer. I bought a lock and seal from Asda and it has maintained humidity for months with no humidifier at all inside it.

Yep, almost 5 decades s old, Boli No 2 tubos That said, the screw down tops / seals are not what they used to be. I suspect now the assumption is more & more people have humi's
