D4's always used to be rock solid for me, until 2011, quality seemed to dip then. I've had a box sat since 2010 and they are now smoking excellent.

P2's I've had less experience of, but I have a 10 box I broke into a year ago, the first was pretty unsmokeable, very green and young. The 2nd I smoked last night and they are getting better but definitely need at least another year.

Truth is, a crap meal would be sent back to the kitchen with a demand for your money back.

Why should you put up with rubbish from a so called luxury product when you wouldn't expect or get it from a pack of Benson and Hedges. The excuses we make for Cuban cigars are infuriating, ?17 per stick isn't cheap, these issues shouldn't happen and luck should really have nothing to do with anything.
      I agree with tippexx

Not fit for purpose, then send the remaining sticks back to the supplier for replacement or refund Good merchants will always certainly want to know

How do retailers tend to deal with this kind of thing?

I did wonder that myself...I always had the impression, not from any retailer mind - That it was a lucky dip thing!

Also - A retailer in Belfast told me he didnt stock a lot of Partagas as he had a lot of people returning with them...

One thing is for sure, I will think twice now before parting with money for anything Partagas...And in a way that annoys me because the good ones I have had have been really nice...

Hmmmm...was that before or after your purchase?

Not really a problem with partagas by itself. It also plagues every major brand with inconsistency monte 2 and 4 are some of the best examples when you get good ones they are great but you have to sift through a lot of crap to find them. Dont be afraid to handle the cigars and look through multiple boxes to find one. Any cigar merchant that wont allow you to feel the cigars is not worth your money. The EMS thing of inspected cigars is a thing of the past if it was ever true.
