Lighters - Anybody have this problem?

It is VERY similar to the lighter in question, just that mine is a completely silver finish, so Im guessing it uses the same mechanism. Are you a latin expert or do you play the board game by the way?

It is definitely not leaking gas - there is a little gas level thingy on the side and it is definitely not going down without use.

Sorry I meant (but didn't explain well.) When you activate the lighter is the valve letting gas out?

I find my Xikar doesn't like being turned at any angle other than vertical.

I have a Nibo that cost ?10 and is still working over a year later as good as the day I bought it... And I don't maintain it at all... And I use cheap crap fuel.

It is definitely not leaking gas - there is a little gas level thingy on the side and it is definitely not going down without use.

If it's the same Lighter then I think I know your problem and it can be fixed easily.

Take a small flat head screwdriver.

Look on the bottom of your lighter, where you put the fluid in.

See that circular grey bit around where you put the fluid in?

lightly turn it with the screwdriver all the way around to the minus side (There's a + and - indicator on the side of the aperture)

Then light the lighter. Nothing should happen.

Now turn the grey circle all the way to the + (using the screwdriver)

Again light the lighter. Give it a few tries and it should light.

Nope, tried bleeding and refilling, plus the turning to - and lighting. Still very sporadic if it lights at all.

Well it should light after you've fully turned it to the +.

In Portugese speaking countries it's still a common name. I often get asked if I'm from Brazil.

It just makes me grimace when it's pronounced incorrectly, much like listening to an American pronounce Cecil or niche.
