What a lovely looking box of smokes the La Gloria are. Nice varnished box.
Can you help, when looking at cigar sites they often have 5x5 boxes. Is that referring to cardboard boxes of five cigars?

    • Yes 5 lots of the cardboard boxes.

      • If at all possible I stay away from the 5x5 boxes... not sure why just do. I suppose its cause I like Cabs or Dress boxes more.

          • I have coolers so when I rum out of space I head the hardware store (Canada tire etc etc) and buy another 48qtr Cooler for under $30. I like them you can stack them or like me I have shelves that mine sit on. The down side you can't show them off and have to dig (all though people see this as a downside so I listed it but I however love it, I forget what I got, I keep intact boxes always with other intact boxes, any open ones I put in to separate coolers with other open ones and then I have a cooler of just singles) out of sight out of mind. After my urge to want to have a nice expensive humidor (I will eventually get Bob(aristocrat) to build me one but likely I'm a decade away from that) I stuck with coolers because its a great and cheap way to house and maintain your cigars.

Do you mean wine cooler fridges or esky picnic coolers? I'm guessing the latter for the price. I'm not sure I've ever seen an esky that big! I'm guessing they help keep the heat steady. I've been quite concerned about my tupperdors getting too hot lately, there's stuff in there I'm hoping to improve with age but I worry they will get worse due to high temp at the mo. Clue me in guys, should I worry about temp?

              • we have a decent amount of campers on this side of the pond. 48qt coolers are regular on the go here.
they do run up prices of 80-100 dollars. And honestly, i'd rather just stick with a wine fridge for that price. nice sleek dark, humidor looking ones. did the math:

                1 remington 4000 ct: $2500
                10 wine-freidges 300ct each: $1000

                4000ct for $2500
                or
                3000ct for $1000
of course, the only bad thing about the wine coolers is that you'll need to bead each one and probably put in hygros in each one. but then you get to organise sticks by regular, LE/RE, rare/vintage, etc.

Mommy! when i grow up, i want a walk in humidor!!

                • They are just plain jane coolers, My tastes would never allow for 10 wine coolers.... I would just go out and buy a commercial wine fridge (250-400 bottle cap)

I've never seen a 48qtr colemans run more then 30 bucks at crappy tire or Walmart, for a 100 here you can get 150 qtr coolers. I stick with 48's as they are easier to manage (lifting, moving, storing as I keep mine in a storage closet and on shelves)

Here I dont have to worry about temps to much as summer where I am is only 3-4 months and most of that is 20 degrees anyhow. If I bought a remington I would already have to buy two likely or in the next year so there is no point. Also I'm not totally into buying use wine fridges and having to deal with other peoples spills and such.

                      • I will leave them buried, I have half a box of those open plus a bunch of singles from various years. It helps me keep mind off them. Hopefully I wont open them for a very long time, which is very doable for me.
