I agree that the last third is often not up to the rest of the smoke, but there are times when the smoke is great right down to the nub and you just don't want it to end - it'll be stupid to stop smoking half way as a point of principle in those cases
I suppose, as ever, every stick is different and as has been said you just need to keep smoking it until you stop enjoying it
Thing with i have never been in a relaxed atmosphere smoking its either walking round a park who standing by a window. And when you have anything bigger than a robusto it can get boring

You so need a garden, just sit back and watch the grass grow whilst you smoke.
I dont like smoking past the band, i find when the band starts to burn it spoils the taste
hmmmmmmm... i share your sentiments. that's why i absolutely hate NCs
when i light the cigar, 3 puffs in and i'm light headed. almost all of them have an overwhelming plastic taste

Just read through this thread.... It was actually serious before! Whodathunk it!?
Anyways, on the topic of last thirds: Some cigars are smoked JUST BECAUSE of the last third. I have a few in mind when i type this right now. I remember the first thirds being weak and not as balanced but the final thirds were absolutely amazing. And come to think of it, these were all 'high classed' cigars...
I know many a mate that nubs every cigar. that's their personal preference.
I know many a mate that has never nubbed a cigar. Again: personal preference.
I believe Zino Wino said never to smoke a cigar past half way? Honestly, that's the equivalent of saying: never punch a cigar because tar will build up near the top. And who wants to taste tar? Okay, not the exact same but you get the point: dictating personal preference is not something that should be done.
This includes walking whilst smoking (something that Zino Davie said as well). I personally have no problem with it. If you want to do a few laps around the track with a Dunhill Montecristo in your mouth, be my guest. You paid for it and you can piss on the stick and feed it to Gophers for all i care. Or you can smoke it past the first third and then complain about the odours everyone sought to enjoy.
Bottom line is: if you hate it, i don't care. If you love it, i don't care. Do what you like and as long as you can somehow explain it when asked, i wouldn't mind sharing a smoke and tipple with you.
