Just heard a rumour (no more than that, trying to get clarification) that the first batch turned out to be badly blended and flat ...along with my experience. Apparently they then reblended the sticks and re-used the early box numbers with new sticks.
This could well explain the widely different smoking experiences and the glut of sticks on the open market. If it is true (against all normal rules) one should look for later dates July/Aug and onwards. I am going to seek one out and see if it is any different.
If true at some point boxes with the same numbers will be identified.
Quite a rumour
Thats interesting, if it's true it could damage the box code reputation as a reference point.

I paid 59 CUC for mine. Lots of boxes available in Havana Last November. Very few around during the festival in February/March.
I saw about 8 boxes on a shelf in one shop in February, they were all in the 4990s of 5000 and I saw all of them being snapped up. I didn't see any more in any shop in Havana, I think they are gone there now.
There are lots of grey market boxes available because retailers know that they can buy them at ?40 and sell them at around ?200.
That makes sense as long as the retailer can avoid import duty on them.
Great info, thanks Andy.
Have you smoked any, how did you find them?

Little medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these
I smoked one in Cuba and liked it. Mild but nice cigar.
I tried one a few weeks ago and it was plugged.
These have been getting very poor reviews, many people calling them bland.
I'll smoke another sometime soon before forgetting about them for a while.
Had one a couple of weeks ago, didn't really enjoy it that much. Quite savoury, woody and definitely green, fairly one dimensional as others have said. Much prefer the choix supreme from ERDM...

I don't think I have heard a bad thing about the Choix...

I got my hands on a couple of sticks did not think they were box worthy, if what monkey gas heard is true might be worth getting later dates to try but not something I would seek out
I've smoked 3-4 of these and found them decent. I have some seal boxes that I got for 60ish cuc not that it matters but IMO a no brainer purchase, minimal investment if it pays off and they turn out to be great. There is hype for sure at 250-300 US a box.... thats just crazy.. correction thats to much (for me) By all means if you want and have(money) then thats great.

Hmmmmmmmmm... monetarily, maybe. but actual smokey rewardwise......
Go take a quick looksies at what [Monkey] and [Ryan] said regarding the Infantes.
pretty strange. and maybe you'll have to re-evaluate what you thought about your boxes that are sleeping right now.
I don't buy for profit I find it bad taste. I also take people opinion about a cigar in to account but never as a matter of fact when it comes to what I enjoy. I have heard lots of people say yay and nah but I wont know till I fill I need to break the seal in years to come. For me there is no risk on these boxes.

take this into consideration, then! (or don't )
ERdMs normally always need age. This includes those pesky little Regionals. They definitely won't be preforming well right now and if you find them pretty good, just imagine what they'll be in a few years! . Much like the highly sought after Vikingos now! (yea i'm talking to you Sheppsea, ye lucky bastard).
mind you, no one will fault you if you hate those Infantes 3, 4, or even 10 years down the road and want to sell them for 60 cuc a STICK. in fact, some might even thank you
Worse case Jer I trade them. or I hold on to them for prosperity haha. I have no street cred but I think they will suit my palate just fine... maybe by then I'll enjoy the lgr rg's
