Yup. Have smoked a few. I found them mild and one dimensional. Like most erdm's they may come round after 5-15 years into something special but it is not clear at the moment.

It is a bizzare RE as it is the first one to be more available out of its home country than in. If you can buy these in Cuba for ?60 a box go for it but at the ?150-250 that they currently go for I think they make no sense.

People are buying them because the last Cuban RE is over ?1000 now but I would be surprised if these ever hit any real value.

Based on the "How Old Are You" thread, some of us can't wait that long.

          aye: agreed on that part.
all who has smoked has said they're shite right now. much like a young CS, i guess?

and Paul: price down south is 69 CUC. works out to be just over 40 quid!

They look nice! If they have even the slightest hint of Demi Tasse profile then they could be a winner in my eyes.

At ?40 a box I would probably chance 4 or 5 boxes. Lol

Just heard a rumour (no more than that, trying to get clarification) that the first batch turned out to be badly blended and flat ...along with my experience. Apparently they then reblended the sticks and re-used the early box numbers with new sticks.

This could well explain the widely different smoking experiences and the glut of sticks on the open market. If it is true (against all normal rules) one should look for later dates July/Aug and onwards. I am going to seek one out and see if it is any different.

If true at some point boxes with the same numbers will be identified.

                    Quite a rumour

Doesn't do much for the exclusivity of Cuban REs does it

Well the whole RE availability is very questionable at the moment as everything seems to be everywhere. This Cuban release is particularly odd though as it is so widely available on the grey market. sooner or later we will find out the real story but t is only academic. If you like a smoke and the price is right buy it. If you buy a smoke because of the second band then it that is what you are paying for.

I paid 59 CUC for mine. Lots of boxes available in Havana Last November. Very few around during the festival in February/March.
I saw about 8 boxes on a shelf in one shop in February, they were all in the 4990s of 5000 and I saw all of them being snapped up. I didn't see any more in any shop in Havana, I think they are gone there now.
There are lots of grey market boxes available because retailers know that they can buy them at ?40 and sell them at around ?200.
That makes sense as long as the retailer can avoid import duty on them.
