  • Don't smoke expensive Cigars....

Trouble is everything I try that is more modest... I don't like. Going to have to resign myself to only buying the best and getting rid of everything else.

I'd rather have two or three excellent Cigars a week than two or three a day that don't hit the spot.

    Good taste is not cheap

Try a Por Larranaga Montecarlos and let me know what you think..... I think it's a matter of finding what you like and not, I'm currently of the opinion that cost is not a consistent way to judge quality in the cigar world.

Your probably right but I've been smoking lots of good stuff recently and my more modest sticks are not hitting the spot. I'll look up the Montecarlos...

        Watches and Cigars.
They are pretty much bargain basement price... But I was very impressed.

Out of interest what's a couple of your top sticks at the moment and what have you been less than interested in?

Been enjoying aged Romeo Churchills. I bought the whole cigar stock from an off license years ago that was going out of business. Must be 10 years old plus now...

Wide Churchills are great too, Siglo VI, JL no 2 of course...

Thats no bad position to be in!

Romeo Churchills always turn my head when I see them in the shop.... One of those "Aspirational and iconic" sticks, even named after the big man himself. Alas at UK prices my head always takes over and makes me pass them by.

Perhaps if I was smoking sticks like that then I wouldn't be recommending the sticks to you like I have. Lol

I've always found the Incan and Nicaraguan home blends from our sponsors good and reasonably priced if they're available to you may be worth a punt.

"Getting there is half the fun." No way I'm missing out on all those little gems by assuming that expensive is good.

I get what your saying.... But, taste is so subjective that what is "better" is hard to determine. And given that good or bad could be separated by as little as a year of production in the hobby of ours, not to mention hidden quality control problems. This mantra runs you the risk of for example, smoking a disappointing BHK in the place of 5 surprisingly good small sticks.

So I think I will go with "Smoke up, you might just love it."

                          Quality, not quantity.

I'd rather have one humidor with a few boxes of quality sticks, than two humidors filled with poor ones!

I find I have many different brands and styles
From very small to the very large
When choosing what I am going to smoke or take with me
It a depends on time I have to smoke what mood I am in and also what I may be going to do
This is why I have a range
I have the same with my wine I keep approx 100 bottles on site at home as I never no what I may want or fancy with what I may be eating or whom may be visiting
I hold wines that cost ?5 to ?500 a bottle at home and many more at my places of business
Sometimes I may even bring one home from work as that is what I fancy on that particular evening
Choice , is paramount why would I just have say a box of each super premium large smokes when maybe all I have is a 40 minute window to have one
Yesterday I popped into 1a st James around 5-30 unfortunately they were having a private function at 6 so due to the time I chose a H Upmann half Corona purely due to how long it would take me to smoke
