Wedding anniversary cigars

I am getting married this July. I know there are many discussions about cigars for the big day itself, and I will enjoy putting thought into that. I have had the idea of buying a cab of 50 of something, to have one on each wedding anniversary (hopefully I will need 50 and not 10!) Anyone have any thoughts of what to choose. I don't have any standout favourites. Thought it might make an interesting discussion.

Do you have any cigars that stand out from a time you have spent with your mrs? any that she has gifted to you before that always remind you of her?

Sounds like a good idea, find a cigar you really like then get it on! I bought a 25 cab of JL2 when my dauther was born box code is the month and year of her birth. My plan is to keep them and smoke as she gets older.

I'm sure certain cigars will lend themselves to the possibility of 50 years of ageing, a lot will only be good for 10 years or so.

Someone with more knowledge will be able to guide you better but from what I remember, Bolivars lend themselves well to long term ageing.

The opposite can be said 'supposedly' for Cohibas, as the leaves are aged longer before rolling, opinions suggest that this makes them less of a candidate for long term ageing.

A stellar cigar with massive aging potential by all accounts.

Only come in cabs of 50 and don't think you can get them in the UK though...:/

Get pretty favourable reviews all across the board if you look online.

I like the Bolivar idea. If you get something light bodied there might not be much flavor left after years of ageing.

How about a 50 cab of Bolivar CGs, which will already have some age on them as the cabs were discontinued a few years ago.

Great cigar, but I would choose something current production so that the date code was the month and year of your wedding.

Good point. I'd still be inclined to go for a longer smoke, perhaps a churchill size, if it's going to be a once every anniversary cigar.

I really like the RyJ Churchills for a good consistent long cigar, not sure they do them in anything but 25's though.

Other than that is be inclined to go with the HdM double corona

We were married in Feb 1967 (47yrs ago) at the wedding reception we give out Bolivar No2 Tubos for those who wanted a cigar

Last year whilst talking to the wife’s old aunt, our weddings day came into the discussion. ‘Lo and behold', she said that her late husband had kept his cigar in his desk and was still there with other memorabilia as he was not really cigar smoker.

So without any further conversation she produced the said Boil and gifted it to me
The tube cap was tight with a cork/foil inner cap seal which had kept the cigar in near perfect condition. I left it open in the humi for about 5 weeks before smoking.

The Boli possibly by then 47-50 years old, once lit produced almost immediately that famous aroma and richness with ton's of smoke which Bolivar was famous for in those days. Although gradually a softer less rounded & dryer taste crept in. I wish I had another one or two to savour.

IMHO if only Bolivar would again reproduce that richness of the fifties to late seventies Nevertheless, I'm still a Boli fan
