  • Cigar from the year of your birth

It was only a few weeks ago that I said I would like to find a cigar from the year of my birth. 'You will never find one that old' was the reply. Yes very funny!! At the time I was smoking Dunhill Don Candido from 1966 with a journalist who is writing tasting notes for an article (it is one of the rare 100 rated cigars from Cigar Aficionado).

Yesterday Stefan (who is known on UKCF) and Tillman were in the Lounge here. In an incredibly generous gift Tillman presented me with a Montecristo No.1 from the year I was born - 1959

Apart from being a superb smoke it is very special just thinking of the state of the world from that era - not least in Cuba.

Does anyone else have, or has smoked, a cigar from the year of birth?
I'm sure there are greater things in life than a fine cigar ........... but right now I can't think what they might be.

Interesting. I have never thought about looking until now.

I hadn't quite thought about it like that - but yes it's a bit worrying!

1983 Here, I have a Whisky but no cigars..... Funnily enough considering a recent thread a quick search suggests that it was a good year for El Rey Del Mundo Panatelas Largas...... I'm unlikely to find any, though i may just go on a search for something CC from this year for my birthday in July.

Also the Dunhill Estupendo 1983 is supposedly a 100 point cigar.... but apparently they can go for almost ?1k each

Although I've never really thought about finding a cigar from 1985 (my year of birth) one thing I would quite like to do if I'm lucky enough to have a son is get a box of 10 cigars from the year (and ideally month) he is born and then share one with him at various milestones in his life like his 18th birthday, university graduation - or equivalant if he doesn't got to university, marriage, first child, and then one other event I haven't thought of yet, I did think possibly when I reach the end of my life, but that seems very final!

Camacho do a cigar made with pre-embargo tobacco, that would be close at a sensible price.

Hehe, The Genuine Pre-Embargo's are only about $2.40 each in the good ol' USA.
