It's not the size that counts Simon! It's how you use it..... At least that's what I heard.
The PE is lovely, I have never had the bigger one though.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

Not smoked too many of either in fact wouldn't mind sitting down and smoking them aside each other to really weigh it up however I have had some good Edmundo's Stevie! I've had some bloody good petit edmundo's too though!
Now the double edmundo I had, that was quite shite!

My first Edmundo was so amazing I went out & brought a box (had less that half a doz other boxes at the time so it was quite a deal). The next one was so, so & the next three. I sold the remainder of the box. I smoked the first on on hols in Spoain. So my question was, was this attributable to having a great time on hols, the sun sea & free flowing whiskey or do I get a great stick & the rest were meh? I do really think it was a good still, as I was in a pretty miserable mood with the wife at the time & it was the cigar that lifted my mood considerably. I think the Spainish connection was rushing off to buy the at box at Spainish prices, if I'd been at home I'd probably have had a few more before getting a box. Either way I have been dubious about the larger ring Monte's since.
When looking for phtos of the Ed I found these of a PE, turns out I have had one after all. I guess the fact I could remember it tells you it wasn't so memorable but it was very fresh, striaght from Mr Franks.Monte.PE.2013.01.07.SAM_0207.jpgMonte.PE.2013.01.07.SAM_0208.jpgMonte.ED.Tub.2009.06.20.IMG_1015.jpgLast edited by Simon Bolivar; 04-02-2014, 04:02 PM.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

Cigars sure can help to lift the mood can't they Simon!
How about the LE's, C's Sublimes, grand edmundo's, 520's e.t.c ever dabbled with them?
Whilst we're in the Monte thread anybody ventured into the Petit No.2's much? I've got one to try, was going to last night untill the heavens opened, maybe tonight!

Have tried a few of the montes now. I personally rate the PE over the edmundo hands down. The 520 is in another league and everyone one I've had has been amazing. I did manage to get a box of the sublimes but haven't broken into the box yet as trying to find the right occasion as they're huge..

I have had a couple of Monte Robustos, from te Robusto box of 5, & LE, these were great. I brought a few Sublimes but didn't think much of the first one have to say. Keeping the rest for a while longer before I re-visit. The 520 looks enormous at 54, 50/52 Ring gauge is large enough for me. A DC is only 49 after all so you can have a big smoke without an aching jaw.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

Had a Petit No 2 about a month ago I think, was fairly enjoyable but noticeably young. Didn't think it was as strong as the No 2's I've had. Construction was very good and the new bands look smart. I would imagine they're going to be very popular so QC might become an issue?
Agree with simon ref the trend for massive ring gauges, 46-52 are my preferred, anything bigger is almost hard work!

Day to day Petit Edmundo wins hands down. I always have a box on the go and some ageing. Imho the most reliable smoke in the monte range ...if not the most reliable production CC period!
The modern Edmundo always tasts poor to me. The only exception being the '04/'05 that can be stunning.
Over a glass of wine Hamlet (the master Cuban roller) confirmed to me they are different blend ratios. It is often erroneously assumed they are the same but just 1cm smaller, they are not.
Dont hesitate, buy the PE's.Originally posted by Simon BolivarLittle medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these
