The thing with London is that its so big that its hard to be subjective about it. Some of it is really nice and some places you don't want to walk after dark.

Isn't the nature of a city likely to make it, not very nice when compared to market towns and villages?.. Though I imagine that London, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool will have some of the Best and Worst areas.

I'm a Londoner born and bread. Been all over the UK and all over the world but am very proud of my home city. Is it perfect, of course not but the level of language and abuse is uncalled for IMHO.

I think that is uncalled for too, there are obviously people from both these places on here and to speak about our cities like that is rude I think.

rascal might just have had a really bad experience in London. I personally wouldn't call is a cesspit and I did find the selection of specialist retailers mind blowing.... But when me and the Mrs were there she was 8 months heavily pregnant and really struggling on the tube.... Not a single person on any of the 6 or 7 tubes we took offered a seat.

Honestly I was shocked, I cant imagine that ever happening in any other city I have been to.... Still we didn't let it sour the experience.

See Mark if there was not truth in the statement you would not take offense I think our member from Liverpool would agree with my statement about Liverpool. Though maybe I was wrong about this being a forum and people expressing opinions would be found here! Some we agree with some we don't but to call someone opinion rude because you disagree/ think it too harsh. Think about the next cigar you or someone else calls horrible/crap tasteless as they could be all someone has filled there humi with as they are there absolute favourite should you keep back your opinion incase you offend or come across rude?

Please feel free to say if I have insulted your cigars. In the same token I will point out when you a sweeping generalisation about 11 million people that I find a bit rude.

Of course this is a forum for discussing cigars so different opinions on cigars are probably reasonable.

The thing I have learned is that if my opinions offend others I cannot argue that they should not feel offended, that is purely for them to decide.

Always worth remembering that plain txt forums are a very poor medium for expressing crass generalisations.

I just want to point out I never once said anything about the people living in any city! Txt is a hard way to communicate some people jump to certain conclusion but think of the amount of people who move from where they grow up due to them believing the area is crap like Sean. Is he making a sweeping generalization of himself and all his family or is he talking about a inanimate place?

Ps apologies about using you as the example sean easier to explain that way.

Say whatever you feel Rsacal....I still find it rude.
I would not generalize in such a way.
To say that a city the size of London is a cesspit....well....that is your opinion.

Marc, when my wife was expecting I can tell you many people let her sit down on buses etc and my parents regularly have people get up for them on public transport.

This is where I step out of the debate.

If I had such opinions about Yorkshire I would keep them to myself.
