Its not like going to Sainsbury's to say the soup tasted awful, its more like going there because the can was empty when you got home, or there was a (very strange) defect with the packaging that prevented you from opening it

I do shop with CGars as I find the instore pick up for online orders convenient and have always been happy with the service I receive, but I find MSS to have as good and often better prices and try to order with them whenever I can, I would encourage everyone to give them a go as Simon is also a gentleman and provides excellent service (I would also say try other shops around the UK, most can offer something - the LCDH has an excellent selection for example)

There is a world outside of CGars and as has been made clear here the price match/lowest price guarantee doesn't mean you no longer need to shop around.
Yeah I get that but I'm sure Sainsbury's still wouldn't believe you if the tin of soup was empty, they'd just say you'd emptied/drank it and wanted another for free. Still, obviously Mitch makes a lot of money from C.Gars however it is him effectively out of pocket (on that plugged stick) when you ask for a refund. There's no way I can sit here and not praise that service; I don't know how many other companies do it but whoever does do it, is in my eyes, a model business and other companies should follow suit.

The price match thing does need to be tweaked, yes, but on the whole C.Gars for me at least sets the benchmark for the "majority" of cigars; exceptions being JJ Fox for some of their cheaper Cohiba's and MSS for their 225's (which is a very good price I must say).
Tbh though who doesn't shop around? When I first got into cigars I didn't just order from C.Gars straight away because of their disclaimer, I searched around and made sure they were the cheapest for what I was buying. Plus the thrill is in the chase, sniffing out the best deal and knowing you've got a good price is always something I love doing, haha Then again I only buy occasional singles so this whole debate may be different for others.

When Mitch updates the prices this whole thing will either blow over or the disclaimer will be removed I'm sure

It is a shame that it's still a cause for discussion though, as Mitch and his team offer such wonderful service otherwise.
I think Simon sums it nicely there

What I think Wigan is getting at is that when it was previously addressed the disclaimer was not removed.... In fact it was Re-enforced by stating that there was an actual team of people tasked with making sure this couldn't happen.

On that basis it would appear one of Mitch's team has missed a trick and Wigan has caught them out.

You might want to check the Sale of Goods Act 1979,

          Fit for Purpose
          Satisfactory Apperance and Finish
          Free of Minor Defects
          Safe to Use
Last a reasonable length of time in a reasonable condition
Statements about quality by seller should be true (including 2nd hand)

If there are issue with ANY of the above you are likely liable for a refund, replacemet or repair.

This isn't for specific retailers of specific products, it's indectrinated in UK law for anyone trading in any market in the UK.

Ahh right I getcha now, if he hasn't done anything about it before then fair enough it needs to be changed. Though I still do hold C.Gars' service in high regard; but yes I see what you guys are saying now

In my experience, service at Cgars is second to none.

I don't consider this service as such. More a descrepency of terms.

IMO a small descrepency, but if I was buying 100's of the sticks in question it wouldn't be small anymore.

Pretty sure it says to do pretty much this on the back of the tin when it says "if not totally satisfied with this product..."

I agree that Mitch (or a supermarket) could have refused a refund saying you just want another free one (very unlikely but it could happen), but I would consider this bad customer service, not good service that they didn't

This isn't intended as an attack on CGars as I do use them and have always been happy with them but we shouldn't confuse good customer service with 'not bad' customer service

I have some second hand cigars for sale if anyone is interested, used only once and in good used condition.

                    apply in writing if interested.

Well it still remains that of the online tobacconists I know, C.Gars is the only one that offers the "money back if disappointed" offer, which is very good of them

Any retailer selling H&F sticks will refund/replace a plugged stick.

The refund/replace policy is excellent news. Certainly makes me more likely to try higher end sticks as the risk of wasting money on a duff cigar is negated.

Thanks for the heads up Wigan. Think I looked on my smoking shop a while back. I went back on and checked my last three orders from CGars and I wouldn't have saved anything, all that I ordered were cheaper on CGars. It may just be a personal thing but I don't find the my smoking shop website as user friendly as CGars either so having had great service from them, CGars are likely to remain my first port of call but, as I'm sure we all do, I'll continue to look in on my smoking shop when shopping around.
