Hi Chris, Love to see a photo of the box, closed & open. Some colleague! Hope his intentions are purley platonic. Congrat's on getting engaged. I enjoyed it so much I got engaged twice, expensive in rings but made the right choice in the end

                      Congratulations on the engagement.

I'm certainly no expert on vintage cigars, but the ryj look interesting.

They look like they're either a Romeo No.1, No.2 or No.3 in the old tubes. They're also machine-made rather than hand-made according to this:

Let us know how they are! I've got a 9 year old Romeo No.2 but I haven't taken the best care of it so I'm not expecting amazing things from it.

I noticed someone was selling a Romeo #2 tubo in a silver tube on Ebay and was tempted till I read that it had been in his desk for three years.

Well I hate to spoil the party but box isn't from the 1930's, the Habanos label gives it away.

Habanos was formed in '94 & I suspect they didn't use this label initially but someone more expect than me could tel us when this label was first applied. The tubes were discontinued on 2008 & so they have enough age on the to be more than a decent smoke. There should be a date &/or code on the bottom of the box which would help us tell you excatly how old they are. They were a gift & perhaps from someone who was told there were from the '30's & he didn't have any reason to doubt him. Still a lovely engagement present.

NB: This is complete rubbish, they are of course 30yo old not from the '30's. l'll aplogise & go back to sleep.
