  • Small smoke suggestions...

I'm after suggestions of a decent smoke for under ?10, with a smoking time of anything between 30mins to an hour.

Curious to see if members throw any names in to the mix that I haven't tried yet...

    ...many thanks!

Some of these fall in to the category I'm after,
although I know some are slightly more expensive than ?10, but listing them nevertheless... thanks:

      Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto

      Cohiba Siglo 1

      Cohiba Secretos

      Bolivar Royal Corona

      Monty No.4

      Monty Petit Edmundo

      H.Upmann Half Corona

      Por Larranaga Petit Corona

You'll not go far wrong with a Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas Simon...a whole lotta cuban goodness for ?8 in a 30-40 minute smoke

And the Half Coronas you mentioned are smoking very nicely too for around ?7 and 30 minutes...Not normally an Upmann fan, but considering a box buy of these based on recent experiences

              Thanks guys for the recommendations!

Just ordered 2 Trinidad Reyes to try.
I've tried the Robusto T, which was very pleasant (apart from the price).
So happy to try a cheaper Trinidad. It has a pigtail, so will match my Behikes

The Ramon Allones, I'm not sure if their flavour profiles are me (tried a few RASS in the past).
Thought about the Partagas Short, but never been lucky with Partagas's to date...
The Arturo may be next to try, depending how the Reyes go down.

              many thanks guys.

                .

Funny you should mention it, I happened to be enjoying a Fuente Hemingway Work of Art at this very moment!

Well, I like it a lot, as I do the Signature in the same line. I nice, rich, medium-body pleasure. But most around these parts love the Short Story.

I have not, however, yet convinced myself to go for a box....but I'm getting closer and closer!

Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto ? Cheap, because if it was any good it would be more expensive.

Cohiba Siglo 1 ? Not really a Siglo I until at least 5 years after box date.

Cohiba Secretos ? As above but prone to tight draw.

Bolivar Royal Corona ? Best as Tubos version +3 years is a bonus.

Monty No.4 ? Hit and miss construction try a 3 year old Monte Tubos instead.

Monty Petit Edmundo ? Miles better than HdM Petit Robusto.

H.Upmann Half Corona ? Tastes like wallpaper paste but cheap.

Por Larranaga Petit Corona ? Acquired taste and really (really) does need some years.

Possibly not much help. But to help yourself, it's always a good idea to e-mail or pop into the shop and ask your vendor/s the date of their open boxes, and not to be afraid to decline if the age doesn't suit. I see little point in buying a 2013 Siglo I single and then nurturing it for 5 years (that's for boxes), shop around until you get a year closer to what you want.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Anyone got any recommendations on if the h.up halfC will better with age. I got two for short smokes but they even smell like wallpaper paste.

What about a Cuaba Divinos, about ?7-?8 and shouldn't take more than 30-40 minutes????

I had a Fonseca KDT Cadetes earlier this evening. I forgot how good they are. Try one of them.
