  • Green cigar :(

    Hiya all.

Had a monte no1 delivered the other day. All seemed ok. Also received a rocky patel 1990 but that one turned up a bit damp ( got a replacement on its way free ).
Slapped them in my humi but 2 days later noticed the monte had green colouring to it . the rp was messed up anyway but that no green stuff on it. Also the other few cigars in there had none of this. The green stuff appears to be spread thinly over the cigar but doesnt wipe off.

Ive emptied the humi and put the RP and moNTE IN a bag and cleaned the humi and now in the process of re seasoning the humi just in case.
Anyone have any ideas how this has happened ? im assuming it was the damp RP as it was next to the monte only.

Sorry mate, i've seen a bit of mould that wipes of but never a puro that changes colour. Some ppl will charge u extra for that trick

Is it just the wrapper thats turning green or the guts too?

would be nice to see a pic of this radio active stogie.

You can certainly get green patches and discolouring - but the whole stick going green should be worrying!

You can get green cigars though lol: http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar...2,1251,00.html

Tried to wipe it off but the wrapper just cracked and tore.

On the underside of the wrapper it appears green too but not the filler.

Cigar is completely f'ed now anyways but unsure if it was actual mold or just a messed up cigar.

Was it just a green patch or was it actually furry?

            Have you calibrated your hygrometer?

You shouldn't need to reseason your humidor I don't think; if it was mould that would be caused by too much not too little humidity.

              Thanks for the replies guys.

If anything i think my humi is under humidified but re calibrating as we speak.

Boss, i think youve solved my problem as those photos in that thread are exactly what i had and on a monte too. Although i tried so hard to get the green off i broke the cigar ! Live and learn!

Best to get the best advice before i receive my monte 4, cohiva iv and ryj short churchills! Thanks.

I loved this line in there: "You want tobacco that's been either shade-grown, or grown [in a place like] Ecuador, where there's no sunlight,"

                WHAT!?!!?
