Could anyone suggest a cigar as described above for a newbie like me?

I've heard romeo y julieta churchill's could hit the mark but wanted to ask advice.

    Cheers

I would start with the Saint Luis Rey. It's the least strong of the Churchills but IMO the most flavoursome. Then try an LGC Tainos (if you can find one) and H Upmann Monarchs.

    Have fun!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

How about Cigar Aficionado's cigar of the year 2011, the Alec Bradley Prensado Churchill.

I think Upmann do cream pretty well, as Arf says the Monarch is a nice one...

Ah yes yes, RYJ churchill was the best churchill I've ever had. But i had my first when i was starting out. I regret smoking it so soon as my palate hadnt develop yet...... I smoked one last month and it was WAAAAY better than what i remembered it to be (i could actually pick up flavours and all that time)

I would also take a look at the Quai D'orsay Imperales, very approachable.
