  • Water Marks (or mould?)

I wonder if someone can help with a question about the marks that appear on cigars - I have researched this a bit and they seem to be water marks rather than mould, but can water marks sometimes show up on the wrapper after they have been stored?

I only ask as I have a Monte No. 2 which I'm sure it didn't have any marks when I brought it (although I didn't specifically look for them I certainly didn't notice any), but I noticed some on them earlier today. The humidor is 70-72% humidity and the marks aren't fuzzy so I'm sure their not mould. There are also a couple of other cigars that have the marks - are they actually quite common?

I have posted a few pictures to give you an idea.

Hopefully I am right and it isn't mould - I understand that mould can normally be brushed off, which these marks can't

    Thanks for any advice!

By the look of it, they're water spots formed during the curing process IMO. Very common and nowt to worry about.

Sometimes it's easy to look at a cigar as being a cigar and forget that it's constructed from dried leaves. If you go into the garden and look at almost any plant you'll find blotches and discolourations. All perfectly natural and nothing to worry about.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!
