If you want to try a non Cuban cigar I can recommend the Alec Bradley ? Prensado. Really smooth, lots of smoke and a good value at about ?12-?13.
Thanks for that - I have been focussing on Cubans so far, but do intend to try some NCs, and the Alec Bradley cigars do get some good reviews. I've put the Prensado Robusto on my (ever increasing) wishlist
A nice write up of your first month, hope we can look forward to some good reviews in the future. As Pete has pointed out one one the main hazards of smoking Cigars is the noise ? !!
I do believe Cohiba give away ear plugs with the Behike range, a particulary noisy smoke ! Lol.
Hope to Herf soon Toshi
Great post. Interesting to read about someone new to cigars and what does and does not hit the spot with you.
In 12 years of smoking cigars I still feel I I have much to learn and plenty of cigars to try. Its a great journey. Enjoy it.
Ok, so a quick update..... I bought a bigger humidor and so just had to buy some cigars to start to fill it. I bought some boxes of cigars I'd tried and enjoyed recently i.e. Cohiba Robusto, Juan Lopez Seleccion Suprema, HdM Short Hoyo Piramides & Seleccion no.1, plus some of the petit coronas that I can see being my more regular smokes - Bolivar Petit Coronas and Partagas Petit Coronas Especials. I also bought a couple of Partagas Lusitanias - although I can't see them being smoked on a regular basis, and two Bolivar Britanicus (one of these will be my evening smoke tonight)
Looking less empty now (can't say the same for my wallet though)
The smaller humi I have I'll keep in the lounge with cheaper / smaller sticks, but this larger one will sit in one of the spare bedrooms (away from my mates when they come round) & house all my "special" sticks and some boxes - I just hope I can leave them alone to get some age
Oh, and I've also bought a few NCs too - Alec Bradley Prensado Robusto & Regius Robusto, so it will be interesting to see what I make of them
Bloody hell Toshi! That's a beautiful picture. Quite a collection to be setting out with, very nice. (And always a good idea to have a desktop with less amazing sticks for un-educated friends... )
As a fellow newbie I have to say that is quite some collection already! As much as I would love to go on a binge like that I think my home life would become unbearable for the next six months!
I have to say I am enjoying some of the NCs I have tried since I started (also about a month or so ago). I particularly enjoyed the Oliva Serie G Churchill and also Santa Damiana Tubulares, the later is probably not the most in depth some ever, but I really enjoyed it!
