Humidity Drop

Hi all,

this is my first year back in the UK with humidors and this season I am struggling to keep my humidity right. Normally i am sitting at 70/68 which is how I like it but this winter the humidity is dropping to 62ish while maintaining 70f.

So my questions are, is this normal during winter due to natural low humidity + central heating etc?
do I load up on humidification devices?
should I re-season as well?

Is the humidifier dry? If so add more solution. Then the humi should re-season as it goes up slowly.

The humidifiers are topped up, no dryness there. I may give a light re-seasoning a go.

I have even thrown in a few Boveda 69s and still no good.

Is it the hygro? Try putting it in a small sealed box with a boveda.

I have 2 small cabinets and both dropped simultaneously, swapped hygros around, must be the house. When we moved in there was no tumble dryer and all washing was on the radiators with the previous guys, now there is a tumble dryer, the house is drying out, maybe that's it... hmmmm.......

I had a similar problem, and i know the heating being on in the house during the winter raised the temp, and reduced humidity levels...
So i re-calibrated all hygrometers and re-hydrated all humidification devices to be sure, just to see if the humidity would increase, everything seemed to be in order and then i just monitored the readings over a day or two...still it was reading low humidity levels but not critical. The thought of a light re-seasoning came to mind, but i thought no i will try something else first.
So i placed some extra beads in a small pot which i hydrated more than i usually would and placed them in the humidor to see if this would make any changes, it took a day or two and i could see the humidor was soaking up that extra moisture, so i re-hydrated the beads again and it finally did the trick. My readings were now sat between 65-68% humidity and around 63 F...hope this helps

Fixed it, I re seasoned the doors. It was clear that the house is too dry and the humis suffered, nothing to do with the weather. a bit of distilled water around the doors seems to have a good effect. wait a few days..........

If it helps (after you fixed it), I normally keep mine at around 63%.
It adds a thicker spice to my Cubans. I have my Dominicans (and a box of Cubans) in my other humidor at 73% though.

I find 73% high for cubans, 65-68% is the best imo...

Oh no no. I just keep a box of Cubans there. Sort of like a warehouse.
I take 2 or 3 sticks to my 63 humidour so they're ready for a smoke and replenish periodically.
All my Dominicans are in the 73!
