Great Cigar Stores of the World (said in a Clarkson stylee!)

I started this project a while ago and it occurs to me that with a whole load of newbies arriving, you guys all having been on holidays and trips and TJ comuning with the great Cigar deity, there may be some new suggestions and also some of you might enjoy the old er stuff so I will bring this thread back to the head of the queue and we will try to also find that great Rome store for our travelling chooom.

Gentlemen, I know you like a project and I have a new one in mind, both for the Forum but also for something else I am working on at the moment.

I want to find the great Cigar Stores of the World city by city and document them so that when you are planning a trip there is one central point for you to go to for information.

So far we have had contributions on the forum for Teddington (Thanks Roboooooooosto) & Birmingham (CJ)



But what about:

Hi Nic,

Here are a couple of ideas, although some of them aren't areas you asked for.

The Cigar Tower in Budapest is cool and the staff are great. The prices are fixed by the government in Hungary and aren't great. It's also supposed to be the most eastern cigar shop in Europe according to the staff. Don't really know how impressive that is as a claim. The food in Hungary is very chewy!

Bogart's in Sydney was quite good but its a while since I was there. I think the prices weren't far off what they are here. There are a lot of Australians in Sydney which put me off!

As for NY. I used to like the Velvet Cigar Lounge. Not too posh and usually had some good fun clients in as opposed to the suits further uptown. Staff were great too. Again its a little while since I was in NY though. The guy i worked for was a member of the Grand Havana rooms which he said he loved.

Hopefully next wednesday, if I'm having a brave day, I'll be popping into the Casa Del Habano in Muscat in Oman to see if I can get hold of a handful of the local Regional Editions. If I do i'll let you know what it's like!

As I said over yonder, Mike from Leaf & Ale is a fantastic guy who puts customer service first. He is also a fantastic BOTL. If anyone is looking for a good source for Non Cubans, Mike is the man. I have ordered from him many many times. His website doesnt have everything he carries, which is a shame. But he carries a very very good selection.

Easily the classiest shop I've ever been in is, Fincato in Rome

Nic, my little foray was up in York by the way, and I'm planning to visit a lil' store in Belgium over the next few days. Weather permitting: if it's windy, I'll be on the beach in France. If not, I'll be in Belgium sniffing some phat ones out

Was in Brussels last year for the F1 and there is a good Davidoff shop near the city centre and about five minutes from one of the main underground stations.Pricey shop, but a good selection.
