  • Best place to smoke

    Hi guys,

Me and a friend are going to the prince next week hopefully, and while I know it's a good place to smoke I wanted to know which is the best in the uk.

We're not too fussed about being able to drink but we would like some decent aged or rare cigars to try.

The Cuban Cigar Club, Grainger Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. A licensed smoking lounge - not an outside terrace. Coffee on hand. Take (and leave securely if you wish) your own bottle (corkage charge ?3.50). A very good walk-in humidor, well stocked and reasonably priced and good company.

Yeah I'm hoping to go next week. I might try and make it down for the herf on the 24th although I have surgery on the 25th haha.

What is the selection like at the prince?

Where's that? Why is it good? I'm going to pop to turmeaus tomorrow I think. Have a coffee and a cigar there.

I might go down to London with my mate to check out what's there

Knightsbridge, allegedly biggest walk in humidor in London. The Garden room is also immense!

?25 I think however pretty pointless seeing as everything costs bucks. Fortunately I wasn't paying but had a few rums, the cheapest measure on the menu was ?45...

I think I'll give that place a miss then. It sounds nice but places like that are expensive for the sake of it. I'd prefer to go somewhere where I don't feel out of place ( I'm not the neatest person with a scruffy beard and scruffy clothes haha)

Maybe we have different ideas of what the best is. I prefer somewhere friendly and cosy/comfortable with a nice selection. My experience with places like that is not the best but I'm not judging. I just prefer my money to go further. No10 is high on my list. Maybe if I can decide on a date, we could have a little get together?

Edit- wid, you not had my pm?

You should bear in mind that, the law being what it is, those places that offer smoking facilities make you pay through the nose for it. You're not going to find a cosy, friendly, inexpensive cigar smoking environment unless you use a smoking sampler lounge at a tobacconists when the rule is that you only smoke in-house purchases. Other than that, it's down to minimum spend conditions at hotels - and they are punishing.

But they're all outside anyway aren't they? I thought there would be somewhere that was a reasonable price
