Your statement Nic, is quite depressing...Have you ever thought of the spiral you are in..& condoning...
Who do "these places pay their way" too?...
"Rates/cost of property are huge" why?...
"not realistic" ...it was realistic in recent history & is still realistic.
We need to stop pandering to those who make the rules, government, private clubs, big industry, banks & the other unnecessary greedy bastards that run our now corrupt & bankrupt country...
Rise up from the yoke BOTL ...let us start the revolution....burn down Boisdales....
Scotty, don't get me wrong. I'm not condoning the situation, just telling it like it is.
In a shack! cheeky young whippersnapper, I'm just about to choose a smoke from one of my Cuban humidors to go & sit in my nice warm comfy well stocked bar & smoke...then I may go down to my garage & polish the TR4 or even the Mulsanne Turbo..retirement at 55 is such a strain.
Spoken like a true socialist revolutionary, you keep smashing the system

With you then Monk, what say we loot JJ Fox and barricade Bond Street with Behike boxes .... Les Miserables of Mayfair!
Spot on. Of all the injustices and suffering in the world, the lack of good value places to consume our Cuban Cigars in Central London is pretty close to the top of any reasonable thinking persons list

Batler, I think you would be happier visiting Bosidales in Belgravia, just around the corner from Victoria Station. It's hardly pretentious as it's covered in red tarten; they let you smoke your own fine sticks & there is no minimum spend. The terrace has a roof with heaters & blankets. There are four walled sided windbreak from the other buildings so apart from windy days, it's always a good place to smoke.
I pop in on a lunch time pay for a pint about ?4 (cheaper than Aberdeen) & enjoy an hour on the terrace, talking to like minded individuals from all walks of life. They also have some interesting aged smokes on the menu to look at, which I have dipped into trying things I haven't found else where eg Punch Nifa.Monte.No2.2006.08_0168.jpgHere's a pic taken before the tarrace was opened, not much fun stuck on the pavement. We went as it was supposed to be finished but they ran into planning permission problems. It's also been venue for some great herfs.CH.Herf.07.12.12F_0502.jpg Often I am just passing through & not in city dress, see here Monte.DC.2001.2008.11.18_1121.jpgcomplete with scruffy beard & fishing fleece. I had just passed my NEBOSH with Distinction & was determined to celibrate in style with my first Monte DC. Just to prove I am not always a scruff, this ones for Stevieboy,ERDM.Espanna.2009.07.20.081.jpg ERDM Grandee time!
