Buying from US Cigar Dealers

I was wondering if any Forum members buy directly from US based Cigar dealers. I've been on several sites and they all seem to have a shipping facility to the UK at not too prohibitive a cost. I realise there is the Customs aspect to take into consideration but does anyone buy from the US regardless ?

I buy from 'em all the time, muchacho, but then again....I don't live in the UK!

We tend to limit our discussions to UK vendors on this forum, with some minor exceptions, e.g., puro places visited during holidays.

(Of course, private messages are another matter. )

Anyway, I think the restriction is discussed somewhere in the Forum Rules!

nowhere in uk does a really good range of rocky patels, they are my favourite brand and want to try everything they make, I know its all down to politics I just want to try more of their smokes!

Take into account that you have to declare the cigars that are being delivered and the tax which you are legally obliged to pay may be quite a bit.

My thread may have been misleading. I wasn't advocating disclosure of actual US dealers just to sound out experiences regarding Customs duty and whether the dealers automatically declare the contents of what is being despatched or if their is an unofficial policy of tax avoidance. None of us like to pay taxes which is why I use an intermediary rather than buying direct. I also agree with the point made that Uk dealers do their utmost to stock as wide a range as possible - but we do miss out on some goodies - Cuban and NC.

Surely it's the sender who makes the declaration and that's the purpose of my question - are the contents always accurately described so as to attract import duty ?

Almost impossible to keep up with to as they seem to introduce new ones every other month!
