So, in what situations would one warrant freezing a batch of cigars they have bought? Cause we all obsess over keeping them in ideal temperature and humidity conditions, but what i don't understand is why freezing cigars couldn't put them at serious quality risk when some aficionados consider a cigar that has been in atmospheric humidity outside of a humi for a couple of years to be worthless.

If freezing them to sub-zero temperatures is okay, why do we stress when the temperature in our humi drops below 60F?

Not to worry..I've probably cremated the little bugger before he ate too much...

More scaremongering going on...whoopee whoopee a tobacco beetle from the land of the tobacco beetle, not exactly unknown but my dealings with them have been extremely minimal & I have cigars kept since my Grandad was fighting the Fuzzy Wuzzys in Mesopotamia....

Just be aware of the possibility & be vigilant...job done....

When they're new in and were bringing them into proximity to boxes or sticks we already have. Remember the old adage "One rotten apple ....."

        We do? I don't.

When I start stressing over cigars, it will be when I stop smoking them.....
I smoke cigars for the pleasure they give..Not the worry!

            I'll second that.

May I take this a little further and ask what measures are taken to be able to smoke a cigar with a hole/holes through to the wrapper ? For the record, I drop molten wax from a candle into the cavity to seal the hole - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have a friend who sticks small pieces of sticky tape over the hole but I couldn't be bothered doing that. Interested in what our aficionados do.

when I have had damaged cigars I have used rizzla papers to hold things together, but it can be more hassle than its worth

A hole in the wrapper. Nothing. A cigar will smoke without the wrapper, doesn't taste particularly nice though.

A hole through the wrapper and into the cigar close to the head .... ditch the cigar .... it's not going to draw properly. Close to the foot .... cut away above the hole.

In either case if you suspect beetle activity .... compost the cigar and inspect the rest of your stuff thoroughly. And don't swap, gift or bomb anyone with anything!
