  • Angry is not the word...

I recently, returned 10 cuban cigars back to my retailer, due to draw issues and split wrappers. I found 2 that had split wrappers, probably due to bad storage, 4 RA Extra, which were so tight, it was like sucking a steak through a straw when i attempted to smoke one. I put the rest aside as they were tighter than the one i had tried to smoke, in addition i had 4 other singles, i knew would give me problems, tight spots, rolls etc....
Having spent huge amounts of money with them, this was there reply....

Unfortunately we will be sending these cigars back to you. After discussing the situation with the owner, he feels that you are returning far too many cigars, which is costing us in the end.
We have all explained to you in the past, that it is very common with cuban cigars to have plugs. This is the reason there are tools for cigars to remedy this situation.

    Are they f*****g serious??

In addition to this they said if you return anything, they must be whole boxes.

How do i do that when i bought singles and loose 5 packs??

The thing is, all of what i returned except one stick, a Monte No2 from a box of 10, were single purchases, which there idiot staff picked out, packed and sent to me.

    Arrggghhh...

For me this is unacceptable. A single or a box does not matter.

Plugged cigars should be returned (within a reasonable time). Tell them this is unacceptable and if they dont replace/refuld you will report them to your Credit Card for selling faulty goods.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. Based on their lame explanation, I would avoid that retailer in the future.

...if they are a UK supplier, take them to a small claims court only costs you ?30 (which you will get back if you win), not fit for purpose. If non UK cut your losses and do not do business again!

Any retailer worth his salt would not send out poor quality stock. To the best of my knowledge there is a system in place where the Importer makes allowance for plugged stock (which is very difficult to spot by examining the cigars) but a retailer who sends out split singles ,which they can't claim they didn't see as each will have been selected to be packed, should be ashamed of themselves.

I think letting the retailer know that if they don't sort this to your satisfaction you will give more details here would be a wise move.

Just to play devils advocate: that is blackmail, but if what he says is the truth then its just reporting fact not libel or slander.

As long as the exact facts are reported it should be fine. Normally there is a clear email trial ...black and white sure clears out any ambiguities.

Of course if it is a non-UK tax paid supplier we won't be discussing their details here (good or bad).
