  • Dry Boxing

My large humidor (kept in my shed) is running at about 74% humidity at present because it's warm and damp outside I suspect.

I pulled a couple of hand rolled cigars out yesterday to take for an autumnal walk with a friend, and I'm regretting not letting them dry out for 3 - 4 days.
While they were OK they were difficult to keep alight, the amount of smoke was reduced and the last 1/3 was very strong as the whole cigar got damper.

I've made a mental not to dry box my humidified cigars before I smoke them in future and to turn down the humidity for the autumn.

Nic, the freshies always have high moisture to start with. At 75% I suspect you are always going to have a hard time.

My machine is set at 68. I'm coming to terms with the background humidity at this time of the year which is way up and impacting the humidity in the humidor. I've turned the machine way down.

              Your machine???

Try using a humidor and a humidifier next time.
