I was smoking a Carlos Torano this lunchtime and was called into a sales meeting. I was a third of the way into the cigar. So I cut the lit end off and left the cigar in the ashtray. Returning a couple of hours later I decided to light up again. The cigar tasted bloody awful, a very bitter charred taste like the smell of burning tar. The question is how do you preserve the cigar in a situation like this? is it a wasted exercise? Ive never had to do this before and will be very reluctant to do it again. What do you do or have you done in a situation like this? oh and it stunk the office out, and yes I smoke in my office!

I have been known, albeit, not very often, to come back to a cigar after leaving it for a couple of hours after just letting it go out....but I've never noticed any problems after the re-light?! I've never snipped the end off, but I doubt that would do anything. I don't have any ideas.....but an 'out' cigar will definitely stink up everything!

I hate a cigar once its been put out its never the same whether I come back to it 20 minutes later or a few hours later. Like you said, It's very bitter and to be honest I think all the oils which give a cigar its flavour would have long gone by then. Not worth it. Best to get some short smokes for when time is short and some big boys for when you have time

I won't ask for payment in Behike's either. Party Lusitanias will do me just fine.
