  • CC? NC?

    Hey guys,

As they say: "you won't know unless you ask".....

What is CC and what is NC?

I've seen these terms pop up a lot in the forums and elsewhere, and was curious.

    Many thanks!

It is a good question to ask, better to know and use them in the right context.
I am surprised that you only got polite answers though.

Some on here don't much rate anything NC.

                Totally agreed!

So far, I've only had awesome answers on this forum, but I do understand a little bit of the problem some people face with CC/NC.

I've only had 1 brand of NC cigars, and that was the Inka Secret Blend Azul Blue Petit Corona

I must admit, it wasn't too bad for the price. Not great, but better than the Guantanamera Compay Cubans (not surprising given their price and the fact they were machine made). Are either better than the Punch Petit Coronas del Punch? No, but then again, as with many things, you get what you pay for in many cases).

The way I (personally) see it, is that one must give both NC and CC a try, especially if you're starting out (like me). Some of us can't afford the Montecristo and Opus-X's :P.

Nah, seriously though, I find that the inexperienced smokers can find some real gems out there, because they "don't know any better", and haven't yet developed their own personal taste for what they like yet.

When I first joined I had not got a clue either. There are so many terms we abreviate.

                  JL - Juan Lopez
                  Party - partagas

RASS - Ramon alones specially selected.

Best to ask if you don't know. We all forget we were new to this once!

Steer clear of those Guantanameras! Horrible things IMO, and I think that most forum members would agree. I've never tried an Opus X but a lot of people think that they aren't really worth what you pay for them. Arturo Fuente make some other excellent and more affordable sticks - the Short Story is a favourite of mine. As for Montecristos, a No. 5 costs about the same kind of price as a Punch petit corona, and Montecristo is a classic brand that I reckon every cigar lover should try. Of the regular production, my favourite Montes are the Petit Edmundo and the No. 2: The No. 2 is quite inconsistent, but when it's good it's very good indeed. Petit Edmundos are a very reliable and tasty little smoke that shouldn't break the bank.
If you want a midget to look like a baby, don't put a cigar in his mouth.

Ah brilliant advice! I'll definitely take that into account on my next purchase!

                      Many thanks Crusse!

I couldn't agree more! There are some great NC out there,as equally valid as anything Cuban, some more so IMHO.You'll come across some people who,on a skewed general principle, won't give anything NC the time of day.Thankfully though, not many seem to reside here on The UKCF

Since you've been brave enough to come out of the closet, I will too. I love NCs and about a third of the cigars I smoke are NCs.

There, I said it. If anyone wants to try and cure me by sending me lots of very expensive Cubans to smoke, please feel free!
