Chris let me know if you struggle to get pectin I think it is plentiful here.
Also I found some ready made from a cake decorator that I have diluted and that seems to work well, certainly on repairs.

Thanks mate, I think I may be getting some sent over from the UK as we speak.....I simply can't find it over here...I've looked everywhere!!! Thats a good idea to have it already made. Is it difficult to mix up yourself?

From what I can see if you get powedered pectin you just mix it with water.

I got 5 ml of pectin ready mixed and it was way too gloopy so I bought these:

and put a drop in form my ready mix. I filled it with distilled water and shook it up. The little brush applicator allows for precise gluing.

Oh yeah they look great! Have you rolled any yet? You might find brushing glue on a bit tiresome, I usually just use my finger can't wait to see some pics! I actually got a new mold for a wedding present, a lovely figurado one...can't wait to give it a try...unfortunately its down in toulouse with other gifts we weren't able to immediately fly back with

Good luck! Stick with it too. The bunching takes the most skill as this is what gives you the shape. It's important to get the same amount of filler all the way down as easy to get a lumpy cigar otherwise.

You couldn't grow, cure and ferment tobacco yourself to a reasonable standard and even if you did it would take years...

Not rolled anythnig yet, I'm watching vids at the moment.
I'm a bit apprehensive now the tobacco has finally arrived but I'll be having a go this week sometime when I have a couple of hours to spare.

              Thanks for the tip W1ll.

Sounds interesting and fun. I am looking forward to hearing about your experiences. Is it easy to get hold of the leaf? I will see what google comes up with.

There is a supplier in the U.S. who has been recommended on here, this is the link back to the thread:

Whole leaf tobacco is classed as an agricultural product so does not attract customs charges as processed tobacco. In fact my package was opened by UK Customs and released without charge.
