My first taste of COHIBA... a small taste !

I say this when ever it's brought up, I can't stand the VI. Just so boring. But there's enough people who say otherwise, I'll put it down to my own taste!

Try something other than Cohiba dude, "it ain't all that"!

Oh thank the Spaghetti Monster, I'm glad i'm not the only one, everyone harps on about Cohiba, of the ones i've had half have been plugged, the others admittedly were a good smoke, but that's it, a good smoke, there's no excitement, and to Barny and grassy for my liking, yes they're smooth, but dammit I want, spiciness and peppers and bitter sweets.

To me, the likes of the Siglo VI are like one of those really pretty elegant girlfriends who you can take to any party and she'll behave like a dream, but the reason you go to the party in the first place is to mingle with other women as she's really quite dull

I find Cohiba need to mellow for a few years, they lose the grassiness and tend to get much more of a coffee bean flavour come through. More so from the non Siglo range, much better blends I feel (I know I keep harping on about the Corona Especiale but they are a class smoke with some age).

+1 to everything yeti said and booo to Cohiba, though the Maduro line is growing on me due to the added spiciness, and the 1966 has a more interesting flavour profile, worth the money tho??

And on the odd occasion I want a smooth easy going smoke that Cohiba can provide, but generally less interesting and higher costs is a no no for me...

+1. Young Cohibas aren't very nice at all, but with a few years on them the 'classic' range can really be quite special IMO. I also think that the best cigars in this range are long and thin - the Robusto doesn't do much for me. A good place to start exploring Cohibas without breaking the bank is to try a Panatela with a bit of age on it. It is expensive given its size, but it's also a great example of the vitola with all the classic Cohiba flavours.

Funny you should say that I was close to trying the VI today but ended up buying a pack of 3 PARTAGAS Serie D No 4.

Got one in my mouth right now and I love it

Will get a VI though just to try next week

For something peppery like the smaller siglo then try Ramones Allones or Trinidad although the latter is nearly as expensive as cohiba
For something smooth, mild n easy the Hoyo de monterray
For creamy try Henry Upmann ( or HDM petit robusto)

For power then bolivar

Yeah strength I suppose even the small boli PC is a powerhouse!

I reckon the boli brand is as near to consistently full bodied as you will get but I find them surprisingly easy to smoke, very smooth delivery if that makes sense, no harshness or crap just strong quality

But don't overlook the 'weaker brands' I'm still deffo a HDM whore as those who know me would testify but I like to think I can appreciate others and I'm also not a cohiba fan, too expensive for the amount of consistency probs and they deffo need age on them

Definitely a must try is the HdM Petit Robusto as mentioned by Andy, been a while since I last went on about these so doesn't hurt to give it another go

I have to be honest I have only ever had a mild/medium smoke I am not as hardcore as you guys just yet I will however put a Bolivar on my list and let ya know

Can't go wrong with Hoyo, the Epicure No2 is next to the Partagas SDN4 as a go to smoke for me.

What SmokeyDave just said are the two I was going to suggest, bang on. Some people do suggest some funny things, i.e. hard to get LEs, powerful Bolis, lol!

I dunno, I always say try something strong early too, you might just like it!
