  • "Cigar smoking......

....is not a safe alternative"! Seriously,is this really what they plan on printing on our new "standardised packaging" if the tobacco nazis get their way?.I keep seeing this supposed image on the related articles and it's steaming me right up.I mean is that seriously why these idiots think we smoke cigars?....as a f**kin "alternative" to cigarettes?? Pricks!!

    I do apologise,small rant,over now.

I agree that it's ridiculous. It makes about as much sense as printing 'cigars are not a safe alternative to heroin' on the boxes.
If you want a midget to look like a baby, don't put a cigar in his mouth.

That is really mental. There must be a lot of misinformation out there, because for a vast majority of cigar smokers its not an addiction (ok maybe to buying them haha), but seriously!
Deano, is there any way as the owner of the UKCF that we could draft a letter on behalf of the users to send to the retards? Maybe not even to decry the stupid packaging but simply to educate?

I hate this idea of changing the packaging. The packaging all adds to the overall whole cigar smoking experience.

The sad fact is that the government need to be seen to do something about smoking yet the most effective way would be to ban smoking completely... It's sad because the only thing stopping them is the amount they would loose in tax. A figure which easily outweighs what it costs the govermment to treat smoking related illness.

The scary part is that although it sounds stupid to ruin cigar packaging, and any other packaging with these obvious messages I can guarantee there is a select few morons who would claim they didn't know smoking kills. It's a bit like the fattys in the US who tried to sue McDonald's for getting fat...

Unfortunately that's what the world has come to. They will ruin cigars then move on to something else :-(

I believe that the costs to the NHS have now overtaken the revenue. But I don't think that cigars cost it much at all. Its the cigarettes that do the most damage.

Have they, well I stand corrected. But I think you are right about cigarettes being the problem.

Of all my friends and family only two are cigar smokers (me and one other) yet I know 40 or so smokers... Neither of us cigar smokers smoke cigarettes.

Its more to do with new expensive treatments being available and people expecting them.

Personally, I wouldn't object if they want to change it to "Cigars are not an alternative to cigarettes. They are infinitely superior." although that's not going to happen...

This kind of thing is precisely why I say that in some pretty big ways, the current model of "democracy" we have is a load of bull***t.
