  • Tubes, wrappers and boxes in humi?

    Hi
i have ordered an humi from ebay and was wondering what to do with the cigars i already have, i have some in tubes and some wraped in plastic should i take them out of the tubes or take the tops off and remove wrappers etc?
also if i buy a box should i put the entire box in my humi if it would fit or take them all out and put in my humi?
    Cheers
    Phil

It's personal preference if you take them out of their tubes / wrappers etc. If your intending to age them for a lengthy spell, they're better off being left in their container but if they're only visiting for a short while, take them & let them breathe

Hey Phil I believe mate that it's really a question of your own personal choice.Speaking for myself,I think if I had any tubos that I would take them out for no other reason than that of space maximizing.I've got some cello wrapped Padron 2000's and the majority I've in the cello inside my coolerdor and I leave a couple unwrapped lying in my Lock & Lock.I'm doing that really just to see if I do,on the off chance, happen to notice any difference between them being wrapped or not,I haven't so far.

Again with your second question,if your humi is big enough to take the boxes then again, speaking for myself,I choose to put the whole shebang in there. To the best of my knowledge mate there's no right or wrong with this, just whatever works best for you, your stash and the space you have for it

This question comes up every so often and the answer alway is "its personal preference." Tubes on or off, lid on or off, cello on or off some people do it one way and some the other and really it won't matter either way.

Personally I'm a leave them as they come kinda guy.

As to in or out of the box probably depends on size of humi, desktop I would say out of box. Tower I would say store in box.

No problem, just remember to take your time in seasoning your humi before filling it, everyone wants to rush but it is worth it to do it right. Also look into beads for hydration media and a decent hydrometer.

A word of caution about cigars In cardboard boxes. I had a couple of cohibas that started to go mouldy in the box. Almost like a separate micro climate damper than the rest of the humi was there

I prop lids open now untill I feel that the humidity has lowered in the box. I came unstuck after bringing some back from Cuba.
