As my second post, let me just throw a question towards some of the more experienced members. What is the single piece of advice that you wish someone had given you when you were a cigar newbie?

Buy a bigger humidor initially....a 75-100 count humidor sounds like a lot of cigars now, but once the bug has bitten it quickly pales in comparison of the tupperdors you have to subsequently set up! haha I'm sure there are a few people on here who can attest to that.
That, and don't worry that you can't taste every flavour talked about in the reviews, it takes time to develop your tastes buds to recognise the subtle flavours and differences
And enjoy every stick as if it were your last
Happy herfing!!

enjoy the journey!...Ron White Quotes
I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

+ 1. I'd add that buying a digital hygrometer and beads for your humidor saves a lot of messing about and worrying about humidity levels.
I'd also suggest buying a number of singles rather than boxes to begin with so that you can experience a wide variety of different flavour profiles and decide what floats your boat (but it's worth buying 2 of each cigar so that your potential enjoyment of a particular brand isn't spoiled by one plugged or otherwise dodgy stick).
Most importantly, NEVER EVER buy a box of Cohibas with a glass top (the way to avoid fakes is by buying from reputable suppliers. My favourite UK vendors are http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/, http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/ and http://cigars.gauntleys.com/. They all sell high quality products and have excellent customer service). Sorry if this sounds patronising, but there are a lot of fake cigars on the market and it can be hard to tell the difference. As with all purchases the rule of thumb is that if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

Good Advice:
Buy a bigger humidor than you think you will need......hmmm. I got this advice and ignored it. As a result I have just finished setting up my first Tupperdor - Doh.
But at least two of each cigar you fancy. That way if you try one and like it you'll have another. If you don't like it leave it to age in your humi. It might be better in a few months / years.
+1 on beads - brilliant.
Not so good advice:
Only smoke Cuban Cigars. Whilst I usually prefer Cuban Cigars there are some very good Non Cubans out there. Make your own mind up.

every one's palate is different , smoke what is good for you , not everyone can taste leather or beans in their cigar so don't expect to taste all of these different flavours, make up your own mine as to how they tastethink lucky and you'll be lucky

All cigars are a variation of the flavour of burned tobacco, once you get over that bit you can enjoy the subtleties. The new charity auction: http://www.ukcigarforums.com/showthr...lighter-raffle

Not be disappointed if you don't detect all the flavours and characters of a cigar that other people mention when you smoke it, everyones palette is different.
+1 to all the excellent advice on here, especially the "Buy two of each cigar you sample", just in case one you have is a duffer.Exploring the world - one smoke at a time.
