  • Rocky Patels

Hello Peeps, I've been offered a box of Rocky Patel The edge 5 years slowly aged. Are these any good. Since friends have got to know about me smoking cigars I've been inundated with offers lol. Again I don't want to buy anything spurious so would appreciate some feedback please guys.

They are Missile corojo in a triangle wood box. I think there's 25 in the box. Box is sealed. Hope this narrows it down a bit.

Dunno, depends on the price. I don't have a huge knowledge of non Cubans, but Rocky Patels are generally thought highly of.

They were given to a friend 2mths ago and have been in his drinks cabinet. Not humidor. It actually says "slowly aged on the box"

They are worth around ?140.00 to ?160.00 over here as a fair estimate.

Not kept in a Humi=bad so ?40-50, i'd take a punt at them they are a good stick.

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

Yeah I reckon that's a pretty good score little bit of time in the humi and I'm sure you'll be good to go with them,at that price you can't go wrong.Good work!

Do you think I should un-box them or put the complete box in the humi?

Personally I think I'd be happy enough just putting the box as a whole into it.I would hope that they're not completely dry even after a couple of months out but whatever the case I'd have thought that they'd do better remaining the box.Do you know anything of the history prior to them being two months in the drinks cabinet?

?? I'd be interested in the reverse, fast ageing!!

I like the Rocky Patels I have smoked and certainly would have had a go at that price.
I'd leave them in the box in my humi too, probably leave 'em for a while and then have a look-see in a couple of months to find out how they are doing.

The only cigars I have been offered by a friend were some El Credito's that were surprisingly OK, I shared a few on the Forum, and some dried out Hamlet and King Edward's that I politely declined. Maybe I need to change my friends.

I've never smoked a bad Edge.

My buddy had a few in his humi which he has let get to about 45% humidity. I put them (and his other sticks) in my humi and tried one of the Edge after a week. It wasn't as oily as I know they can be, and being familiar with the cigar I knew it was 100% of what was possible, probably about 70%.

So for ?45 a definite winner!!
