  • I like fat ones.

I have a preference for the Robusto size and I'm not sure why. I have a couple of theories....

    1. I used to smoke cigarettes (three years ago, mind you) and the smaller gauge cigars remind me of smoking cigarettes (just the size, not the smoking part obviously), which I don't like.
    2. It just....feels more manly (even though 99% of the time I smoke by myself so I don't know who I am trying to impress?!).
    3. I had a false perception that the larger the ring gauge the more packed with flavour they would be (obviously not the case).
    4. They (depending on the length) last just the right amount of time for me.
    5. I like the way they look.
    6. I like the big glowing end at night.
    7. It feels....right when I roll it around with my fingers between draws.
    8. The larger gauge cigars simply look like what my mind pictures a cigar to look like (if that makes any sense at all?!). Although I would understand if people thought of Churchills.

Lately I have been trying smaller cigars and longer cigars and have been very surprised with what they have to offer and have added a number of them to my small collection. But at the end of a long week I still like to treat myself to a big fat Robusto.
What is your favourite size? And can you pinpoint why you like it?
    Have a great weekend everyone.

I go between belicosos and robustos as my favourite size. They just feel comfortable in my hands and always provide me with a nice length of smoke.

However, I do find this varies depends of the cigar - I have been known to enjoy churchills and petit coronas before now.

Good post Chris yeah I'd also say that on the whole I'm much more a smoker of the robusto than of anything else. When I first got into cigars I did what most of us do and tried varying marques and vitolas.Over time I found, like you, that robustos just seem to "feel" right somehow, but that's quite a difficult thing to quantify isn't it?.I'd say also that they seem to give me just the right balance between size, flavour transition, complexity and the time that I'm afforded to be able to smoke and enjoy.I do also very much enjoy pyramides and belicosos and I'm still trying to work my way towards exploring the big guns.A 10 box of Lusitania's has been on my "to get" list for some time.I'm certain that I'll love them and equally certain that even a 10 box will last a damn long time because I very rarely would have the time to commit to something that size.

I too like my robustos and belicosos. lasts the right sort of time for my liking as I don't smoke that often. I do like the odd short corona when really pressed for time but I do remain faithful to the robusto. Hail robusto!

I do have a few churchills but save them for very special occasions as they last a long time!

I'm a real fan of the PC, I think that's because over the last year of my journey I've smoked mainly PC's due to money. But now I have a job (one finger salute to the company who screwed me over last year) I am experimenting with new things. I just bought 3 boli RC's and 3 Monte PE's so we'll see how I get on with those

Im a big fan of the Robusto size. Not sure why, and sure I could analyse it nearly as well. Its just comfortable, and timing wise, it always seems to fit just perfect into the amount of time I have available to smoke.
