I'm sure we all have some memorable cigar memories that have been accumulated over the years, lets share some

    "His first Cuban"
I was staying with my friends in NY state and his son had just turned 18 and started smoking cigars.

We decided I should give him his first Cuban when I came to visit. I picked him out an aged ERDM for this occasion.

But before that, we had some fun...

We took the band off and put it on some piece of crap stick that had been lurking in my buddies cooler. We left it out to dry to make it extra special and waited for a glorious evening the 3 of us were together to present to him.

He made a big deal about how great it was. We were asking what kind of flavours he could taste etc.

And after about 10 minutes we couldn't contain the humour any longer and revealed the truth. He was so relieved because he hated it.

Of course we then gave him the real thing which he did enjoy!

    "Kick my ass"
On my first visit the US, when I had just gotten into cigars me and my friend found some old NC HdMs in a local store.

I hadn't eaten, sat down and smoked the whole thing.

Then I tried to stand up. OMG!! It knocked me sideways. I've genuinely never been hit so bad by nicotine...

Anyone else have some stories? I'll probably come up with some more as the thread goes...

Have had some similar experiences to nicotine hit myself but on a different story I had one of those' cig smoking ' buddies who fancied a go at a Cuban. He delved into my humi and came out with an HDM epi espec. Lit it with his petrol zippo had 3 puffs, inhaled and died spat it out and muttered how crap they are..... I went into his pocket, withdrew his 20 pack of cigs took the 18 left out in a fistful, lit them with my turbo all in one go then threw them in the drain..
The look I got was priceless and my humi has been safe ever since....

I have a friend called Bob, whom I call El Bob. El Bob is an interesting character, being half Welsh and half Bulgarian.

Now Bob normally smokes roll ups, but likes to have a cigar every now and then. Last year, Simon (Griffiths) popped over to mine for a quick cigar in the courtyard with myself and El Bob. I can't remember what me and Simon smoked, but Simon gave Bob and fake Cohiba.

He struggled through about half of it, battling a burn as uneven as the Welsh mountains and having to relight about four or five times.

After about half an hour, we felt sorry for El Bob and told him the truth...

I think every cigar smoker must have one of those nicotine horror stories. For me it was a SCdlH Muralla, I'd got 3 (I think it was from Stevieboy?) and in my naievety I thought that because I didn't find the El Principe strong I wouldn't find these too strong. I was totally neglecting the fact that the Muralla probably contains at least 5x the amount of tobacco! I smoked my first one on a nearly empty stomach around lunchtime and felt fine up until the point that I had to resume my daily duties. All of a sudden I felt sick as a dog, like I had a really bad hangover and could hardly walk straight. I spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch telling my wife that it must have been a dodgy curry I had the night before! I still have the other two in my desktop humi, I can occasionally hear them mocking me... one day boys... one day...
